Who is it? Is there one?

I'm feed up with going into every shop I come across not being very knowledgable about what the hell they are selling.

Conversation goes like this:

Me: Hi. I'm Jamie. I used to do competitions a lot back in the day, and now I am looking to get started again. I'm looking for a small amp to run my subs with. I would like to stay under 100 watts for the sub amp so I can compete in the 250W category. Somthing that could handle 2 ohm stereo or 1 ohm mono and put out out a little more. I've been out of the show scene for a while, and I don't know what is new scince then.

Them: Oh, hell yeah. We win competitions all the time. We got the perfect amp for you. This (insert brand name here) amp will push 1000 watts. :screwy:

Me: That's cool. But, I'm looking to stay in a lower power category than that though. That amp is rated at 4X 200, so its a 800 watt amp. I need something smaller.

Them: How about this (insert brand name here) amp. It's 2 x 250W, but it will do 600 watts at 1ohm mono.

Me:

Me: Ok, thanks for your time.

WTF?? Is there a shop that knows what the hell they are selling or doing?
Where do the real competitors shop at in Atl?? I can't believe in this big ass city, that it is this difficult to find a serious shop.

Damn this is frustrating.

Any help?

find what you want online. The only thing I say to the salesmen at an audio shop is what I want. If they dont ahve it and/or cant get it in a timely fashion I leave. Dont even give them a chance to start talking about something else.

If you are looking for 100wrms for a sub amp you must be competing is SQ. Look at a zapco amp. Very nice staging and depth. A little pricy especially for the c2k line, but well worth it.

Yeah, I plan on doing the SQ comps. I did the SPL thing long enough to get my fun out of it.

My problem is, I don't know what's new and improved over the last 5 years.

BTW, are there any car clubs with serious audio competitors. I would love to get in on a team, espscially a team with SPL and SQ competitors.

Oh, I'm deffinatley serious about competing. I have been away for quite a while, but since I got the new car, it is begging for a SQ install and to take it to shows.

I mostly did USAC Outlaw and DB Drag back in 97-99. Sold the truck in 2000 to buy the TA cause I wanted to race. Now, I get the best of both words. ( a show car that can run)

I tried finding the shop online since I don't know where it is, but the only shop I could find by that name was in Detroit? I tried looking in the online phone book for an address, but there was only a number listed.

I'm tied up in meetings all day tommorow, so I'll call or stop by on Friday.

I have been competing in SQ comps since 1995. Competed at IASCA World Finals a few times, SLAP Finals a few times, and have judged both Finals a few times...

If you area serious (or semi-serious) about competing SQ, please let me know. I can be reached at the shop at 770-271-3772

I started reading that thinking it was still Sina :lmfao: He was like 9 in 95 :lmfao:

Yeah I've been there. Their selection isn't that great though. No JL, no MB Quart(ever), or other stuff. Lots of unheard of stuff that's cheap, but they do have a Solo X Kicker 18". The asian guy is real smart, but word on the street is the hispanic installer screwed up and caused someones passenger air bag to go off. The asian guy is real helpful and actually gave me the radio removal tools I needed for free. Nice people, good variety for the most part.

Check out Anderson Audio and Performance. They have several customer cars that compete on the regular basis. Chris Anderson worked for Kicker back in the day and Kevin worked for Stinger(I think). But they are very small shop that deal w/ high end audio and performance. I've seen hundreds of AAPs finished products personally. They are located on Buford Hwy right before Miginnis Ferry. You can call them up at 770-923-5703.

Like I said they do very high end work. You'll see that the second you walk in the shop. They are very personal and treat you like family.

If you are worried about bumbling idiot salesmen not knowing SQ, Then you gotta go to TJs. John Marsh is a LOOOONG time IASCA and SLAP SQ competitor. Nice guy, knows the products, and enough about installation to guide you to getting what you want. ALOT of sales guys dont understand install.
BadApple is a good installer, but hes not in Gwinnett.

Question how do you wire the subs in the displays inside? What is the power source for the amps? Cause I have spare shit and want to do the same.

we have a 120v to 12v inverter, it keeps a constant current so the amps and decks dont lose power. we dont use a bottery anymore like our old board used to. its pretty big and heavy, dunno where to get them from though.....

its nothing personal but you work for them. i didn't edit Greg's post b/c he doesn't work for them. i'm just being fair across the board... if anyone but you/john post about them (as long as they aren't advertising) thats fine. i can't allow you to dicsuss you business and not pay to advertise and ask other shops for $ to do the same. :goodjob:
