0 Boost V.S Ninja Bike.

So... after hanging out at the parking for 2 h doing nothing... bobby and me decided to run for fun. His ride is 2005 Ninja 600ZR . I think any way one of the fastest 600 bikes out there. And if u guys know bobby he weights about 120 lbs maybe lol haha anyway lets stop the excuses. Hehe
We did a 40 roll to 140 mph I had no traction I was on street tires so we decided to run again from a 70 roll to 140 mph
He beat me about 1.5 cars.....I started catching up around 130 mph... but we stoped around 145 mph. My car can do about 185 MPH. I am sure I would catch up around 150 mph. Any way good runs for Thu night.


P.S : The bikes traps around 130-135 ; P :eek:

The guy with the bike knows how to ride.

The M3 does have traction problems in 2nd gear from a 40 mph roll (it's on street tires).

If you don't think the M3 is capable of beating a stock 600 cc bike in a high speed run, then you've never driven/ridden in a car that's fast beyond the "kor-terr mah-yull".
I have beaten a stock 600 F4i with my (nearly stock) 944 Turbo from 90-155 by about 2-3 car lengths, and that's nothing to brag about.

Not to bash on Supra's, they're great on high speed runs, but why do they require so much HP to be fast?
Are they that inefficient?

Or are there too many dyno-queen Supra owners out there?

Very narrow powerband.. It's not that they aren't making the power.. they aren't making the power as long. This isn't really that big of a deal at high speeds. You can work around it on the strip as well. V8's face the same problem's, it's just with alot bigger turbo's (ie 90mm+).

The thing I always look at is.. Say you have a 3200lb honda accord w/ a nice 600rwhp turbo setup. Or you have 600rwhp Supra at 3200lbs with the same turbo setup. If both cars are setup with the exact same chassis, just different motors.. the supra will pull it all day long, especially at low speeds.. because it makes it's power quicker, and holds it out to a similar redline as the civic. Therefor it makes its power longer. There are ways around this at a track, and sometimes having all your power at once can be a traction problem. There's too many variables to each setup, and ways to work around things.. But typically it isn't that big of an issue from like say a 60mph roll ;)

But yes.. it does typically take more horsepower out of a supra to run with say a domestic v8, due to the narrower powerband. However, there are ways to work around it.. The same things domestic turbo v8 owners have to do.. build boost off the line as best as you can, and gear your car appropriately to take advantage of whatever your poweband might be.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I don't doubt you beat the bike at all. Too many variables. The guy could have been a sub-par to average rider.. And bikes really drop dead on the topend.. I have ran really well against small displacement bikes past 100 that would really eat me up from 0-80 due to the fact they have the aerodynamics of a brick. That, and weight isn't as big of an issue up towards 100mph+. Where as moving 3000-3500lbs from a deadstop vs moving 600lbs from a stop.. well, you can imagine the advantage the bike has there ;)

And once again, I'm riding a 05 Kawa ZX-600RR Not a 636... My bike is 599cc really but called a 600... Its a track bike not meant for Highway pulls, Gearing is alot different from the 636, It does have higher comp piston and a little head work but thats what Kawa did to this bike to run in the AMA Sport bike class... They only made 1100 of these in 05 and thats only because its manditory for AMA.... Oh and it did win the 05 Championship too... ;) .. :ninja:

As far as the bike race....401 rwhp M3 will not beat a propertly riden 05 600cc bike...unless the bike rider is racing standing up on the bike instead of tuking in lol.

Nope! John Shephard's Eagle talon is still AWD and is now running 7.9 in the 1/4 WITHOUT THE SPRAY. Once he starts spraying again he should drop a few more tenths off that time.

Buschur Racing is running 8.93 in the 1/4 with their AWD shop Evo VIII and AMS is running 8.95 with their AWD shop Evo VIII. Both cars are on BOOST ALONE no nitrous. I believe they are cutting high 1.4 to low 1.5 60' times with drag radials.

Fast cars.. what weight are those cars held to in the class they race in?

Still quite a ways from the fastest drag radial car, but I think those drag radial cars are cutting high 1.20's, and have to weigh like 3400lbs or so depending upon what motor is in them and such.. I am under the impression the record is in the 7.60's now tho..

Anyways, thanks for the lesson.. last time I saw that DSM it was going much slower.

It's funny as hell, you see Shep lining up in what appears to be a stock looking DSM against an all out Chevy sponsored cobalt and walking that ass. I think I saw a highlight the other night while I was up late on speed that showed him running 7.8x at around 175-180. Not 100%. They eliminated the class that the car was built for and so they decided to move up instead of slowing it down. I think he lost to Gary Gardella in the factory Cobalt ride who ran a 7.6x @ 18x.

Yup, the RR has better suspension and brakes. The RR model also has a slipper style clutch set-up. First thru 3rd are the same but in the RR the rest of the gears are much closer. As stated before the RR has 37cc less than the R-(Street Model), because in AMA sanctioned events it is required that all bikes in the 600 class, to be under 600cc, i.e. 599cc-RR; 636cc-R

BTW - SV650S aren't terd bikes they're built for different purposes. Try taking one to the mountains Hwy 129 or Blue Ridge Parkway... they'll run off and leave you hanging in the last curve.
