I just had an eclipse AVN 5435 installed on my 05 Toyota Solara.

The steering wheel controls dont work.

I understand why it wouldnt work for the volume controls and radio but why would the display not work? Yanno the display that shows how much fuel I have left, MPG etc etc..

Also someone from the solara forum says


i have the avn 5435, and my steering controls work fine, you do not need to buy any kit, they just have to switch a few connectros and thats all. any shop that is qualified will be able to do this for you. try another shop and they should do that for you

i agree, the shop didnt do something right, you either need to make them redo it, or take it someone else, while demanding your refund on labor

maybe I should just take it to toyota dealership and see what they say?

I used gwinnett sound, they did a great job!!

but the installer said I would have a purchase an adapter for $150 for the steering colum to work.

He does works on all of my cars and always does a good job for a good price.

ask the person on the solara forum if that 'adapter' had to be used when his/hers was installed. but i dont see what it has to do w/ your gauges not working. i think they had your whole dash out and didnt reconnect your wires

well it seems like the speedo dash wasnt touched..so i cant explain that one. find out about that adapter first before you use 150 unnecessarily.

reg fuel gauge is working

yeah it shows the display as to how much gas I have left but that display can change and show you Miles per gallon, Speed and other displays which you change via steering wheel

they did something wrong, i know what the deal is but its one of those things that you cant put into words, its something that has to b e shown. i work at the circuit city at northpoint mall. if you want, you can bring it by there and i can fix it up for you.
