Idle Air Replaced, still funky idle!

Well about 4 months ago I had to replace my idle air valve because of that gay honda idle. So it was fine till about two weeks ago.

Someone told me to cover up the hole on the inside of the throttle body, the lower one on the left hand side. I did and the idle was fine, therefore they told me it was my idle air controll. So it happened again two weeks ago, and i re-replaced the fast idle valve, but nothing happened. This time i realized that it is the top hole on the inside left of the throttle body that makes the idle go normal. What is this top hole connected to? And how do I replace it.

CLIFF NOTES: IACV went bad, I changed it, worked fine 4 months later went bad again, changed it again, this time it didnt work.

I will give you some advice that should help you solve vacuum leak problems from now on.... Make a boost leak tester. If you dont know what this is, I will be happy to explain. But if you made this, you will be able to find where your problem is.

try the fast idle valve that what it was on my buddies motor hope that helps

well i had that same problem, is your idle dropping real low, then come back up and then it starts fluxuating (sp)

I replaced the fast idle valve. Nothing happened. If you look inside the intake manifold, you see two holes on the left side, upper and a lower one. Does anyone know where the lower one leads? I think this may be the source of it because when i cover it with my finger, it idles normal.

Ok, I will explain... Its a very simple tool to make. You need to locate a rubber cap that can fit over your throttle body. (you take off your intake). Then you get a valve stem and poke it through the rubber cap. With this tool you put an bike pump or air compressor and fill your engine up with air. You then take off the hose and listen for leaks. You can even use soapy water to locate them. The compressing of air is done WOT.

take carb and choke spray and spray all around the intake manifold, when it idles up you will kinda know where the leak is from..... then pinpoint it and fix it.

A bouncing idle can be caused by the IACV, FITV, TPS, or just a vacuum leak (could be from any hose or gasket on the intake manifold). Since you have already replaced the IACV, it is probably just a vacuum leak somewhere, and like milano pink said, carb cleaner is a fast way to find a vacuum leak. The FITV is controlled by coolant temperature, so if you think you are having a problem with it, you can bypass the coolant around it. If bypassing the coolant around it solves the problem, you can either leave it that way or replace it.

Yeah, you can take the metal plate off of the FITV and screw the adjuster in in all the way using a couple of screw drivers. There are some nice long writeups on other sites on how to do that. Some say all the way in, some say it works better when you back it off a turn, and others say you don't need it just bypass it and forget about it. Also with that IACV, you might try pulling it off and cleaning it out really good with some carb cleaner (main point is to get that metal screen clean).

bad idle = leak, bad connection, bad spark, bad tps, bad o2 sensor, bad gas, etc.
check it all.

low/high idle = idle adjuster screw.. you really shouldnt have to mess with the screw until you're done troubleshooting your current problem, as it has NOTHING to do with a BAD idle, but a high/low idle.
