Painting my 18's and need help

So I just bought cremepuffs 18' 350z rims I am in the process of sanding and getting ready to paint. Can someone give me some info on painting rims THE RIGHT WAY. Not just spray them and thats it or just primer and thats it. I need to know the whole process with the preparation and primer. The whole shibang. Thanks in advance my peoples

strip whatever is on there.
sand it/rough it up.
primer it
get some duplicolor wheel spray paint.
paint in light coats.

let dry for a good bit.
mount tires, touch up as necessary.
done.

or take it to get powdercoated?

Do like 3 medium coats and then sit them in the sun for 4 hours.

You dont really need to sand, just clean clean clean. Make sure there is no dust.

I have probably painted 6 peoples wheels just on this forum. haha

My car came with chrome forgelines and I had to paint them another color. Take your time and will turn out fine.

Basically if you want them looking really nice, you should do them just like an automotive paint job. Strip the paint, sand down any imperfections (I have actually heard of people using small amounts of bondo in deep scratches), make sure all surfaces are scuffed up good with some fine sandpaper, primer, sand again, paint in multiple coats, put a clear coat or 2 on them (Duplicolor makes clear as well), and then wetsand and polish at the end.

^ instead of bondo, you should use a metal filler.
of course, then you sand down the imperfections like ^ said.

etc. etc. same procedure as any other type of painting with a tougher paint.
