So what would be the best shop to use for a 2jz/240sx swap? About how much would this run on average?

That is correct Mainstream Performance/Turbo Dave Fabrications in Powder springs. There is a complete breakdown of what you get and for how much with their stage one package in the sponsors section, check it out.

no stock ls1 short block has supported 800+hp. Put a ls1 in one and MS put a 2j in theirs and I am sure you will see how well dave can drive the grey/green. Hell ask clark how well dave can drive the grey/green.

That would be a great swap but why pay the extra to have a 2jz? you could have an RB26 put in for less and it has close to the same potenial. I am not trying to make any one mad I was just curious if you had a reason for wanting the 2jz or if you just wanted to say you had one.

ok, for the 12039-93-12049-4-294-23430-th time, PLEASE SHOW ME WHERE YOU CAN DO A RB26DETT IN AN S13 or S14 FOR CHEAPER THAN $8000

BY A SHOP

YOU GUYS KEEP SAYING "oh an LS1 and an RB26 is cheaper" , PROVE IT, call Batlground, Call Mahdavi, Call Topspeed, Call Tiger Racing, Call TopHat

Call Nissan shops an ask them how much a RB26 or LS1 swap will run, you supply a stock Nissan, they get all parts PLUS install.

I think stock ls1 vs stock twins, boost 2jz in 240.. ls1 would make the 2jz look silly. but as it sits the 2jz has more potential being that its boosted stock. Up the boost on stock twins and your 400+.

I can see his frustration. People keep mentioning rb26 and what not, but its not his point. He believes the 2jz is the most cost effective swap. For example: nitrous is probably the most cost effective way for HP although some people will swear against it (cheating, etc.).

You really cant say which motor is better than the other. It all depends what you want to do. My choice I would pick between the 2JZ or one of the LS1 motors. You cant go wrong with all motor LS1 and everyone here knows what a 2JZ can do. LOL, now if you're going to turbo the LS1...this opens up another conversation. :)

2j is a good bang for the buck. I dont know why people would think the 26 is cheaper. The 26 ran me a hair over 9k and that with out shoplabor, minus I/C pipes and dp from dave. And thats also on a rb20 tranny, so if you add the 25trans, you can add another 700+ for the tranny then a how ever much for a custom tranny mount and a custom driveshaft. You could probably manage to do it for 8k if your lucky, But I would imagine a shop would charge around 9-10k for a 26 swap. So 8k labor included for a 2j swap is a great deal.

^^^^ FInally someone understands what im getting at.

Im not saying the 2JZ PWND every motor ever.

Im saying, FOR THE MONEY, you cant beat it. LS1s are cool, but they simply dont have the 900whp stock block capability, the easy of the 2JZ, the powerhouse, potential, yada yada yada.

what i need to do is see HIPSI dyno LS1 stock vs 2JZ an then we would all know

The rb is out of hte picture, but i think ls1 vs 2jz is a good argument really. Both are able to handle extreme amounts of power on a fairly stock longblock, good tq and power stock.. Stock 2jz obviously has the ease of modification potential by being able to up the boost to increase power.. But the ls1 has got the upper hand as far as displacement, and from what ive seen once boosted can handle insane amounts of power on stock block. Obviously for the power on hand $8k is a good deal for a 2jz swap.. the big kicker will be how much a ls1 could be done for if it were a more mainstream swap.
