E-Brake Handle On '00 Civic

I know this is a dumb question, But how do you remove the factory E-Brake Handle cover so I can put a polished one on?

pull- it is just hard as shit to do. I had to squeeze liquid soap down on th handle to get it to budge. Good Luck to ya.

also most of the time you have to cut it with a razor blade...you know cut it were it looks like it was sorta melted together...
