ive gotten a few calls back from some cell phone companys for sales. i really want to get a decent salary but dont know what a decent base is. currently im making $9, but to get out of my job now, i would take $8 but i dont know really how much to ask in terms of the cell phone industry.

So im asking what is a good starting base pay with 2.5 years sales experience?

cell phone jobs are mainly commission based... the ones I know of are like $6-6.50/hr + commisson.. like $20 per activation (2 yr) $15 for a 1 year plan... $2-3 for upgrades...

I don't know if anyone can actually work in a cellphone. Maybe back in the 80's when they were the size of a Yugo they could. But these days, with the Razr and all, I don't think there is anyone small enough to fit in one. Later, QD.

@ that rate get out of that business. Unless you are PT. Or going to school or something..
Theres better paying jobs out there in retail. 2.5 experience is not bad either.

I would look somewhere else.. 9 bucks an hr is shit .. unless you are PT or something.

I have a friend that used to sell for Verizon. He said that all of the money was in commisssion. The hourly rate is sub-par, but your comission should put you in the high teens per hour. My boy made 40k his last year with them...

went to the interveiw today. Feel VERY good about it...the other interveiwee only was in for 6-7 minutes while i interviewed for almost 45. Also, if i get hired, i had intended on workinbg at the gainesville location but now i might be getting to work about 5 minutes away form my house still and 2 minutes away from my old job too

I work at Wireless Toyz in PTC and like someone stated...salary ranges from 6+ but is more based on commission which is really the luck of a straw when you have a customer come in. We sell everyone but Verizon and Metro. Verizon has some sort of deal where they have to be a direct dealer in the S.E. A friend of mine is working at T-Mobile in the Avenue making 9.50+ commission so he's not doing too bad considering this job isn't all that stressful, or at least I don't think so.

ive been in the cell phone business for about 3 - 4 years ..
i work off salary plus commision its cause i work with asian owners ..
but uhm usually it depends what they are willing to pay you or both of you agree on the pay ..
im assuming they will ask what your hourly pay would be like and they will decide from there ..
working in a cell phone store is not an easy job trust me on this ..
i have done t-mobile, sprint, cingular, nextel, verizon, att & now metro pcs ..
you deal with stupid people but there basically there cause there interested in purchasing a phone ..
sorry for the blab im just drunk and drinking more and dont know if im making sense ..
