i got the h23a1 in my prelude and as far as i was concerned it doesnt have vtec, because it doesnt say it on the valve cover, and didnt see anything that looked liek a vtec solenoid. but i was looking for something that would look like a civic vtec solenoid. i was looking at one of those motor specs websites and it said they are vtec, so i was just asking are they vtec or not? after i seen that i went back and looked and seen a black thing by the dist. and figured that might be it. also dont think ive ever heard it kick in at whatever rpms its suppose to at.

4th generation prelude (92-96) model offers s, si, and vtec
93 is the first year for vtec (in US ???)
s - powered by 2.3L 4cyl 146 hp
si - powered by 2.3L 4 cyl 160 hp
vtec - 2.2L 195 hp (engine code H22A i think)

correct me if i'm wrong =)
