theres so much to say about this subject i dont know where to start. and i know alot of pple on IA are not open minded about whats really goin on in america as far as african americans, black people , or which ever rolls off your tounge.
i think its sad that america has shined so much of how they want ethinic or black people are. everything that black pple say or do no matter how positive and how many positive things they do one negative can out wieght20-50 positive things when it comes to them.
everything accomplishment and tragedy is a mockery of this culture. and pple see it as a norm. i dont understand when pple say. ..."you Black pple have a change in this world now...you can do whatever you want" :no: not true exactly. i know it is possible that black pple can reach to a highg level of accomplishments. but its either your a "sell out" meaning you may look black but your really dont......support your background on any topic. you stick with other only to reach the goal of your own.
or you stopped "some way some how" ( threatened) or you never get the chance or you dont try cuz its is for certain that you wont get what you deserve if you work hard or harder to be where you want. ( theres more to it than i have stated)
but its so sad to acknowledge the anger and struggle that black people go thru on a daily basis no matter what field.
like for instance i was working with a white lady that had her own business doing faux finishing. my mother was teaching her youngest dauaghter in kindergarten. at the time i was lookin for a job and my mom had the lady call me cause she had room open for me. long story short i got tha job workin with her and another assistant she had. But what i didnt realize till later was that she excepted me as " ooh im gonna help this poor black child to get a job ...im doing her a favor to get her off the street" type shit. ( ha i was raised in dunwoody no where near tha hood) but im still poor and black.
from day one i could tell something was different about this lady. she not only contradicted herself about church and sex but with racism as well. she talked bad about white pple on how they treated blk pple. but everyday i worked with her a racist remark would come up. i worked in her house as well cause her shop was down stairs. to see how this lady lived like she was an all american white women actin like she had the life that everyone wants to live the way she does. when i went to lunch with her and her family there weren constant remarks made from the bible he interpreted and then just plain out racist. i needed the job at the time so i stayed with it for months and didnt say a word because i knew i would loose my job if i had said something to oppose them. till one day at lunch her brother insulted my intelligence and insulted me as a person. no one said a word in my defense they only laughed it off. i couldnt take it anymore. i had to speak to friends and family because i needed the job at the time and i couldnt quite. so i got convinced to stay.
mind you i have never fauxed in my life but i was awsome in everything she asked me to do. and the first day i worked was in a $900,000+ home and they adored my work in one room and asked my boss to do it as i had done it. not one mistake out of the months that i had been workin there. till one day i got the wrong paint because she didnt look to see what i brought her. and i told her to look. she was pissed and said that she should let me go cuz her family said i was bringing her too many problems but she wanted to keep me as if like i said ( gettin me off the streets) ~pity is what she was holding on to~ and then 2 weeks later she was playing the roll like "i will call you when we get new clients". i became on call. and the other assistant ( white) made mistakes every week atleast 2wice a week ...something about getting lost to go to work sites or not doing what she was asked.
i quite because i told her my opinion about the paint ( which she asked) and she took everything to heart and wouldnt listen to me like i was a child. so i told her i im done with workng with her.
its was terrible i stayed for so long. when i ran errands with her i couldnt go into certain places with her because her clients or the pple she worked with didnt agree for me to come in because im black. when we worked at other clients houses they would always speak to the other assistant and ask her question which she didnt know. and if answered them they woulddnt even look at me or respond to me. they only fixed their eyes on the other girl. everyday i was never acknowledged for my work or as a person and i was constantly reminded that i am black person.
no it hasnt stoped me from being me or dong what i want but it puts hold to me getting where i need to go and slowing my accomplishments because of racist pple.
and its not just white pple but asian's as well as some other ethnice pple. like i said earlier america betrays us as stupid, violent, loud, gang bangers, lazy, dirty and contaminating people. and just about everything we do and say is worthless or made out of mockery. if it deals with work, music, arts, sport, politics, life as a whole, or anything.

like the word "Nigga" why in the world is nigga a fade word. its pubilcly excepted ( mockery) its sad. nigger is a term for a ignorant perons and can be used to describe any race but its a extremely offensive name for a Black person. so why use it in everday life if your not blk and not have a reason for saying it if you are blk. i cant lie i used to abuse the word when i was younger but now i try my best use it to actually describe a person who is stupid no matter what race. what put me to that is the fact that america is allowing it to be a fade like there is no meaning to this word. its like shadowing everything else inthis world that has to do with racism. its all still there its jsut covered up.

THE MNGR USED TO NOT PAY HIM AND TELL HIM TO GET OUT OF HIS FACE AND ALL KINDA CRAP.

i aint tryin to be smart so understand that. but if you turn around ( doesnt matter what race ) and they are ignorant you need to change your enviornment. the blk ppl ei chill with have their own companies and are thriving for something. it doesnt matter what genre it is. i think its totaly fine if my son would want to be a rapper. alot of these rappers today has something to fall back onto if they didnt make it. as well as models and producers. its ok to have a dream to be a rapper cause your money is damn near endless if you know the right pple.

"nigga" is not okay for anyone to say. The word has different meanings to different people, but it should not be okay for a black guy to use it in a positive way, but not ok for a white guy to use it in a positive way.

I think that a lot of the "setbacks and problems" that the black culture are experiencing are self induced. The baggy clothes, thuggin, disrepectful, and other negative traits are popular. It's cool to flex your pimp hand, and if you listen to rap, your not cool if your not selling weed, drinking 40s, disrespecting EVERYONE you see, lying cheating stealing etc... This whole new generation prides themselves on traits that were shamed years ago. That is holding that generation to certain stereotypes..
The old white ladies in Dunwoody are that way from a lack of exposure. They grew up one way, and they stay in their tight little circles, and the behavior is okay in those circles. Not unlike a group of teenage thugs living on Hollywood rd have a level of acceptable behavior, that would not be acceptable on Old Alabama rd.
I'd also like to address the fact that it's cool to portray a lack of intelligence. Typing in awful grammar is not cool. Mumbling and saying unowhatimsayin after every sentence is not cool. Lazyness is not cool. Identifying a successful black man as an Uncle Tom is not cool...
Reverse racism is not cool. The high school that I went to was 99.5% black, and I am white. I got told quite often that a black person could not be racist in America. BS! I went through a ton of issues as a white boy growing up on the wrong side of Decatur. From job issues, to the lunchroom, to hey white boy you can't walk on this side of the street... At the time I only could resort to anger, and got whooped more than once. But as I get older I have pulled some sort of value from most of these experiences. I do understand that you CANNOT pigeonhold anyone to any group. I give everyone that I encounter the same respect until they prove that they do not deserve it.

For example twice last week I had black family ask for repairs to be done on there homes but they didn't want me to send the Hispanic paint crew. One of the Hispanic families didn't want my black drywall guy in there house.

Out of everyone on this issue so far I can relate to you more. The rap today makes me mad. I have said on several occassions that it is not what it used to be. Now anybody can be a rapper. Just talk about some shit you don't have, talk about weed, call some girl a hoe or bitch, and say your a pimp. It pisses me off to an extent. I personally listen because I like the beats, but the words are meaniless and degrading. When I moved down here from Jersey I was worried about the white people and the racism. The South has proven itself racist. I never experienced it up North so it maybe there but I don't know. alright I'll chime in on several points....:2cents:
"nigga" is not okay for anyone to say. The word has different meanings to different people, but it should not be okay for a black guy to use it in a positive way, but not ok for a white guy to use it in a positive way.
Wow, I wish I could have caught this thread earlier, I have a lot to add as well.
I think that a lot of the "setbacks and problems" that the black culture are experiencing are self induced. The baggy clothes, thuggin, disrepectful, and other negative traits are popular. It's cool to flex your pimp hand, and if you listen to rap, your not cool if your not selling weed, drinking 40s, disrespecting EVERYONE you see, lying cheating stealing etc... This whole new generation prides themselves on traits that were shamed years ago. That is holding that generation to certain stereotypes..
The old white ladies in Dunwoody are that way from a lack of exposure. They grew up one way, and they stay in their tight little circles, and the behavior is okay in those circles. Not unlike a group of teenage thugs living on Hollywood rd have a level of acceptable behavior, that would not be acceptable on Old Alabama rd.
I'd also like to address the fact that it's cool to portray a lack of intelligence. Typing in awful grammar is not cool. Mumbling and saying unowhatimsayin after every sentence is not cool. Lazyness is not cool. Identifying a successful black man as an Uncle Tom is not cool...
Reverse racism is not cool. The high school that I went to was 99.5% black, and I am white. I got told quite often that a black person could not be racist in America. BS! I went through a ton of issues as a white boy growing up on the wrong side of Decatur. From job issues, to the lunchroom, to hey white boy you can't walk on this side of the street... At the time I only could resort to anger, and got whooped more than once. But as I get older I have pulled some sort of value from most of these experiences. I do understand that you CANNOT pigeonhold anyone to any group. I give everyone that I encounter the same respect until they prove that they do not deserve it.

I was at a party in Forsyth county 2 saturdays ago when the hosts neighbor got all shit happy because 2 black guys showed up with a group of white kids. Guy walked into the middle of the cultisac with a can of lighter fluid and drew a cross on the pavement and lit it on fire. Shortly after that he jumped in his truck and sped off. He came back about 10 minutes later with another guy and started bitching at the group of people who'd massed at the end of the driveway wondering what the fuck was going on. Guy was telling us to "get those niggers outta Forsyth" and crazy shit like that. The party host went over and talked him down so everything was cool, then the party went on. Well, about 4 hours later(Around 2 am now) the group the 2 black guys showed up with were getting in there car to leave and ronny racist next door comes storming up his driveway with a pistol and pops off 5-6 rounds into the pavement, then hauls off and punches one of the black guys in the face. Less than 10 seconds later he had 3 cops on him. Turns out someone in the cultisac had already called the cops(Too many cars in the street) and they were creeping into the cultisac with their lights off all stealth like and caught the whole damn thing on their dash cams. Hate crimes automatically bumb infractions up to felonies with minimum 3 years per count. Needless to say, that motherfucker's goin away for a while.

There are not as many racist people as there used to be so we don't usally experience it on a day to day basis at least I don't. My last truck was an SS Silverado on 22s, and now I have a Dodge Ram on 37" mudders... I refuse to curtail my personal interest because they are not what I am "supposed to do". I choose to surround myselves with people that do the same. I agree that there are still some good ol boys in offices some places, that don't want to hire blacks, asians, or whatever. But I also know for a fact that there are blacks that will NEVER hire a white guy. You have to give respect, and then demand it in return. I used to own one of the biggest hip-hop nightclubs in Atlanta. I had negotiations with all types of people. You can't stereotype by race, it just doesn't work anymore.... My dad is really racists. Some of you have probably met him actually. He comes to the dyno days and drift days sometimes. He's real cool in general...he's just a racists. I guess that's an oxymoron. I hate that part about him. When I was growing up he never used the N word. But for some reason I always knew not to bring a black person home. It was like an unsaid thing. I mean I guess he had said it at some point...but nothing that I remember specifically. All of that being said, I have 3 sisters....they all date black men ONLY :) My sister Tammy actually has a baby by a black man. I always tell my dad this is what he gets for being so against black people. Once he figured out the next oldest daughter was dating black men...he started making a big deal out of it. He actually kicked her out of the house when she was 17...the last month of her senior yar. She never graduated because of it. We didn't speak for 4 years over that situation. It's wierd cuz when black peole are around, he will definately talk to them and be nice....but he doesn't want them in his house. He says he was raised that way. Well, I was raised that way and I fucking hate it. I hate it most for my sisters because during the holidays I can bring my BF, but they can't bring theirs. So we always have an after dad's house party for all of their BF's at my house :D
When I moved from MIA to Ocala, I had white people be racists against me..I guess it was against me and my friends really. Comming from MIA, baggy clothes and big hoop earing with you name in them and bandannas in your hair were the style. In Ocala it was boots and wranglers....blah! I kind of just naturally gravitated to the black crowd in school. I ended up getting expelled my junior year and expelled 20 smething times my senior year for fighting....girls that would call me a nigger lover ;)
At the first Drift Fury (Marlon was there with me), I saw this big cloud of burn out smoke comming from where the bikers were all lined up. So I ran over there to tell them to stop. I just in general yelled at everyone. It just so happened that they were all black. I couldn't see that origionally. There were so many people there I could just see the smoke throught he crowd. They all started yelling at me telling me I was only upset cuz they were black. I couldn't at that point explian to them that that's not the reason at all. I mean, I have black people in my family. They were all ganging up on me about it. I hate that they pulled the race card on me. It hurt my feelings. It hurt my feelings that I couldn't make them understand that wasn't the reason at all. I would have yelled if it was a group of white people. Luckily Marlon was there to stand up for me as good as he could.
Sometimes I feel a little uncomfortable around black people and I feel myself acting different to prove that I'm not racists. Sometimes I say thing that are a little off and I realize after I say them that it came out wierd. Then i find myself trying to expain so they understand and that only makes it worse :) I like hanging out with black people and I want to be accepted by them. I know I shouldn't try to act a certain way, but sometimes I do unknowingly.
This is all just jibber jabber that I'm writing. I really just want to say that I wish racism wasn't such a factor in day to day life. I wish it never happened. I wish we could just make it go away. I'm sorry for anyone that has experienced it on any level. It just sucks.

my father at first didnt agree with me dating white guys and i only had to date black or latino. but i wasnt having that and nierther was my sister. we find people beautiful no matter what background or color. and it took him awhile to get used to it but he did. i was always raised and went to shcools where it was diverse and i my life consist of diversity as well. and i wouldnt give that up for the world. but there are something that i enjoy doing but its a challenge for me because "I" go thru racist things with pple. even tho i said i blend in withthe rest of the crowd. i still stick out. and that is something i am used to. its just makes it harder because someone hates me for what i look like.

Ok so I'm pissed off now!!!! I don't appreciate being called a racist when I'm clearly not. I don't understand why I have to be so mad like everyone else. Aren't I allowed to feel different about certain things? I have not had to flat out deal with racism except for once so I have not been scarred like everyone else. of course you dummy. each person in this world is supposed to respect anothers religion or race. that goes for physically like shaking hands or bowing. verbally like saying thank you or no thank you. if someone calls me a nigga that means they have no respect for me as a person no matter what race. and yes i would be even more angry if its someone who is not concidered black america. because of the simple fact that they are adults and they should no better....they know the concept of respecting one as a person. its just plain fuckin stupid to have anything else as an excuse. regardless if your sheltered or not!

but dont get it twisted like i said i dont like when others of black america use this and abuse it as if its a fade. in some cases in which pple should understand its almost like dry/sick humor between black america.

My dad is really racists. Some of you have probably met him actually. He comes to the dyno days and drift days sometimes. He's real cool in general...he's just a racists. I guess that's an oxymoron. I hate that part about him. When I was growing up he never used the N word. But for some reason I always knew not to bring a black person home. It was like an unsaid thing. I mean I guess he had said it at some point...but nothing that I remember specifically. All of that being said, I have 3 sisters....they all date black men ONLY :) My sister Tammy actually has a baby by a black man. I always tell my dad this is what he gets for being so against black people. Once he figured out the next oldest daughter was dating black men...he started making a big deal out of it. He actually kicked her out of the house when she was 17...the last month of her senior yar. She never graduated because of it. We didn't speak for 4 years over that situation. It's wierd cuz when black peole are around, he will definately talk to them and be nice....but he doesn't want them in his house. He says he was raised that way. Well, I was raised that way and I fucking hate it. I hate it most for my sisters because during the holidays I can bring my BF, but they can't bring theirs. So we always have an after dad's house party for all of their BF's at my house :D
When I moved from MIA to Ocala, I had white people be racists against me..I guess it was against me and my friends really. Comming from MIA, baggy clothes and big hoop earing with you name in them and bandannas in your hair were the style. In Ocala it was boots and wranglers....blah! I kind of just naturally gravitated to the black crowd in school. I ended up getting expelled my junior year and expelled 20 smething times my senior year for fighting....girls that would call me a nigger lover ;)
At the first Drift Fury (Marlon was there with me), I saw this big cloud of burn out smoke comming from where the bikers were all lined up. So I ran over there to tell them to stop. I just in general yelled at everyone. It just so happened that they were all black. I couldn't see that origionally. There were so many people there I could just see the smoke throught he crowd. They all started yelling at me telling me I was only upset cuz they were black. I couldn't at that point explian to them that that's not the reason at all. I mean, I have black people in my family. They were all ganging up on me about it. I hate that they pulled the race card on me. It hurt my feelings. It hurt my feelings that I couldn't make them understand that wasn't the reason at all. I would have yelled if it was a group of white people. Luckily Marlon was there to stand up for me as good as he could.
Sometimes I feel a little uncomfortable around black people and I feel myself acting different to prove that I'm not racists. Sometimes I say thing that are a little off and I realize after I say them that it came out wierd. Then i find myself trying to expain so they understand and that only makes it worse :) I like hanging out with black people and I want to be accepted by them. I know I shouldn't try to act a certain way, but sometimes I do unknowingly.
This is all just jibber jabber that I'm writing. I really just want to say that I wish racism wasn't such a factor in day to day life. I wish it never happened. I wish we could just make it go away. I'm sorry for anyone that has experienced it on any level. It just sucks.
Tracy im sorry you went thru all that. lol ive got some wild stories for you....... the whole thing with my dad as well. he was like that until me and my sister were dating white guys from all kinds of countries. and the funny thing was he had to get used to it because every guy we dated had to come to the house and meet my parents so they know who we went out with. and between my sister and i there alot of pple cuz we like to do different things and go different place. kinda say we a are people persons. but now ( which it took years) he finnaly let his guard down he doesnt care who i date. he still has his :2cents: but hes ok with it.
the whole thing about chilling with black people...the best way to get in with them is to be yourself. One thing about black people that i know of if dont front and act like your fake. if your from valley highg and like 90210 or gothic chick from chi-town so be it. just be you and everything is fine.
it took a while for me to get used to chillin with aa bunch of white people and there is like to black people in tha whole crowd including me. lol the reason is because of what my family has told me and things i experienced. like you know how some women feel like the need to hold their purse when a black man comes around? i used to feel that way about white people because of things people told me. i didnt like that cuz i didnt know how to act or know what to say. what to talk about. so i thats when i started chillin with everyone.
most of my friends say this is sad but they know that 98% of my family was raised in tha hood except for me. and i told them i feel at home unless i see majority white and mixed people or just a mixed crowd cuz thats how i was raised. all black i love it cuz thats my people but most of the shit i like they dont really care for ( most get down with shit i like ) but not all. all white or any other race? same thing. so i love the mixed crowd cuz i feel like thats where i belong

Sad enough to say, fighting racism is a never ending battle. imo, it takes something extreme to change that mindset. The good thing is that some kids; despite their parents being racist, are breaking the chain. Ignorance to some individuals will continue to be bliss. I never really experienced Racism until i came down here. Even today, a black person can succeed and have nice possessions, but their is a certain mindset. He must of done something illegal to get that. Where I live, its predominantly white upscale neighborhood. I can't remember how many countless times i've been pulled over and interrogated by the police. One instance a cop followed me to my own house and ask, "what are you doing here." Needless to say, I made him feel like an idiot when i was done talking to him. Sometimes i can't even walk past a car with a white person in it without them locking their doors. Driving through a friend's upscale neighborhood is the same thing. They either think im there to rob homes or sell drugs. I had a hard time adjusting because the blacks at my school thought i was a sellout. Some whites just didn't want to associate with me. I could'nt help it if i didn't speak or act the way Blacks there did. Instead of unifying, blacks are seperating themselves further. No wonder why Bill Cosby stopped cracking jokes and now is so tense on the issues of Black youth.

its not word to be takin lightly. lol i was at a party last nigt and guy was using the word like it was nothing and it meant nothign to him. i couldnt stand to stay in his presence because of it. everyone around me seemed like it was ok. so i just decieded to remove myself from where i was at. since it seem i was the one to oppose of. ( plus last night wasnt a good nite for me to project any disagreement with someone because of my own personal reason so the situatioin would have gotten out of hand if i had said something) so i left. but after a while the guy came to me and apologize for using it so casualy ...in a way i respected because he didnt have to do that. but i didnt in a way because he continued to say it after we talked about it.
i can take a joke and when people talk about cracker this and nigga that. by all means my family talks that way. its just a time and place when it is used and to whom. is all im stating and it shouldnt be an everyday word like hello.

everything you wrote in this post is exactly why i wrote my thread. becaue people of other races dont understnad and because they dont understand they either disregard it or they try to involve themselves in something they have no clue about. thats the problem. theres much more to it. but you have proved what im talkin about. i dont think your a bad person or every white person or person(s) who are non-black. its just people dont care to understnad or respect things anymore.

I don't think that ALL white people should be held accountable for something that our ancestors did. Racist should be held accountable for their actions today. If we keep bringing up the past it and waving it around, we will never heal. I'm not saying to forget about it and not educate our children about what happened. I'm just saying, it's shouldn't be used as an excuse.
That being said, I don't think there should be BET or WET. I don't think there should be "white pride" or "black pride" T-shirts......or any of that good stuff.
All of the people who fought for equality fought for just that....equality. If you have a BET then that brings the reason for a WET. If you don't understand that then you don't understand what equality is.

I understand what black people say when they say every month is white history month...every channel is WET...so on and so forth. I just don't think that 2 wrongs make a right. If you believe in what the civils rights activists fought for then you should have some integrity in what you are supposed to believe in and think that it's all wrong. That's how I feel. I agree with Tracy 100%. I think that there should just be Spike, CNN, and the History channel. I don't wish to go waving flags, but I want it to be okay. I don't want to have White history months, white pride t-shirts, medalions with Germany on them. I don't want to be refferred to as a white American, just American. I only wanted to show that the balance is shifting past equal. I believe that we should all be treated the same. Not better, not worse.
