Hello,

Is it normal for a turbo car to burn any oil? I heard it was normal and have never heard this before.

Thanks!

define what you mean by "burn"

if you burn oil when its boosting, thats not good - it means you have a blown turbo oil seal

and where the hell did you hear it was normal? its NEVER normal for any car to burn oil save for a rotary engine ( and thats a weird case that we wont even get into unless you own a rotary )

not really normal.

burning oil as in out the tail pipe means bad turbo seals blowing it out or blowby past the rings. can also be bad stem seals allowing it to be burnt also when you let off.

you can try slightly thicker oil if it's consuming a little or full synthetic so it doesn't burn off/coke in the turbo.

i've been turbo'd for over 3 years and no oil burning or consumption...just checked it last week and it's right on the top dot after 3k miles since last change.
