I just got a 49cc pocketbike and I was wondering if it was legal or not to ride it in my neighborhood. I can't find info on this anywhere, does anyone know a website that you can search up law info?

You can't get a tag on one of those 49cc Pep Boys specials, thus it is not legal to ride it on the street. If you live in a quiet neighborhood, you can probably get away with it though. My neighbor rides his through our neighborhood all the time.

Now a YSR50 is street legal and you can get a tag for it.

If it doesn't need a license plate (and its not a bicycle) then it isn't street legal.
At the very miniumum you would need turn signals and headlights on it... and no pocket bike i've ever seen had an electrical system.

You will probably be ok if you stay in your neighborhood... but its really up the officer's discretion if he wants to bust you for it.

I have one and I ride it all the time I never get anything said to me by cops. I dont ride with a helmet. But like most people said above, its all in where you live and how cops are where you live. Up in Stone Mountain and Douglasville I never get anything said to me.

I don't see where there's a problem riding it in a neighborhood. Every time I'm at Road Atlanta at an event, I always see a bunch of people riding them.
