haha no man. probably closer to 500-600 rwhp. but id be happy witih 400 anyways.

stock motors are taking a beating up to 620 rwhp on bimmerforums.

Why did you deck it? I imagine for the purpose of leveling the surface? Aposed to increasing the static CR like the NA guys do? Fill me in :D

This is what i want to do next summer. :D

Are you still keeping your tec3 setup with custom tune? I know u told me, but who tunes your motors?

Nice build, I went through the same stuff with mine just recently!

How long till the first crank?

Also, I hope you meant you overbored .040" (not .40") lol
Does it really bring you up to 3.1L? A 0.040" overbore would only raise my engine from 3.0L to 3.04L

low compression pistons should add a little, correct? And are you taking in his bore/stroke vs yours?

I'm not doubting him, if that's what your concerned with. I know the bore/stroke/compression are all different. My pistons are 8.1:1 anyways, but that doesn't necessarily affect displacement.

yes .040 it was typo

no actually i rounded up.

its closer to 3.1 than 3.0

stock i beleive its like 2997cc

to actually increare displacement i would have to hde used a S52 crank and S52 rods and then it would have been a little higher than 3.2 in between 3.2 and 3.3

right now its in betwen 3.0 and 3.1 but closer to 3.1

update.........

finished the car tonight. cranked her up and she fired up first time. no leaks or funny noises and no over heating. drove her home nice and easy breaking her in with a lot of engine vacuum. turbo wants to spool so much i can feel/hear it. its going ot be hard the next 1000 miles to not stomp on it lol

I guess everyones got a different break-in style, i always go and beat on it lol.

I guess everyones got a different break-in style, i always go and beat on it lol.

well what i normally do is::

go out in first gear. take the RPMs up to about 5-6k and let the motor slow itself down creating vacuum on the bottom of the rings. i do this few tims in 1st gear and then 2nd gear and then 3rd gear. for 1000 miles i dont really go over 5k rpms.

you nly have about 75-100 miles and then rings are set by then so if you havent set the rings by then then it is what it is.

i really just want to make sure that teh rings get a lot of vacuum from the bottom of them so they seal nicely.

plus i cant really go beat on it sionce the turbo kit is on now. and i dont want to put a lot of boost on the top of the pistons just yet. if this was all motor then i would go beat on it.

plus this first 100 miles i wil be changing the oil to get any metal shavings out that are created from the sealing process and i dont want to boost with meta shavings in the oil just yet

i will check my compression at about 500 miles hopefully i pull the 160 across im looking for.

nice build man .. first time I see somebody build up a M3 engine :)

for the break in - I'd rather beat on it hard the first time too

the stock rods and crank are FORGED from the factory. and new rods are 1799 fo 6 of them.

the stock S50/S52 rods have been proven up to 704whp on stock compression.

When is the break-in finished and when's it hitting the dyno?

break in is finished.

im having boost controller issues.
first woudl spie to 10 psi and fall to 8 psi..

i removed my boost controller (turbo smart MBC) and just ran off spring and always hit 8 psi just fine.

put the controller back in now it spikes to 15 psi and falls down to 10 psi withthe controller all the way turned down.

i need to find another controller to test before i hit the dyno

My Profec isn't holding 20psi like it's supposed to on my car either. Hits 20 and then drops back down to like 17-18.

I'm thinking of switching to a manual quad stage boost controller.

I am prett sure that all profecs go high and then fall back a couple pounds. You are supposed to be able to address this by adjusting the gain, if I remenber correctly

it depends on how far you want to go with it.

also depends on if you are OBD1 or OBD2 tuning wise.

it can be done for under 6000 dollars. with way better parts than AA kits which have much smaller turbos.

I am prett sure that all profecs go high and then fall back a couple pounds. You are supposed to be able to address this by adjusting the gain, if I remenber correctly

wahahaahhaahaaaaa

boost falls not because of the boost controller, but because of the turbo setup .. Smaller turbos run out of flow at higher RPMs, while bigger ones hold ..

so, if your boost falls, upgrade your turbo, compressor only, exhaust .. etc. .. not the boost controller by itself

Now there are RPM adjustable boost controllers that can compensate if your boost falls due to the turbo setup. An example would be the E-01 from GReddy. You can use one like that to hold boost on small turbos. However, if you switch back to the WG spring pressure, your boost will start falling again at the top

A good boost controller would not let the boost go above the set level.

I have Profec Type S, and my boost falls too up top. However, it never lets above my set boost level ... because 1psi above what it's running at right now and I'm gonna have holes on my block
