So My shop has ran into a snag with my TH350 and we need a specialist good with auto trannies to help us out so if anyone knows any good places to call or what not id greatly appreciate it if not then my supra may be in the shop yet another god damn week..............heres the problem

Transmission: TH350

Problem: the transmission will go into, park, neutral, reverse, and first gear. when you put it into 2nd gear it acts like its in 1st gear, and when you put it in 3rd it acts as if its in 1st gear also. now according to My shop when they put it on the lift you could clearly see where the tranny was engaging the proper gears however they when it goes on ground it just winds out first and acts like its in 1stfor second and third.

Now the transimission is brand spanking new "well since rebuild never was used" so any input or thoughts on what could be hte problem or places where i can find more info out would be greatly appreciated cause id like to get my baby back asap. here are some pics of the underside of my supra showing the tranny hooked up. Id like to also say a Big thanks to Topspeed for all the great work they have done for me this is the last problem and my baby is done.

Sorry the pics are so big but id like for you to be able to see every aspect of it

thanks in advance

EDITED****

you did rebuilding it and never testing it till now .
could it be the bands not having proper pressure applied , under load?
problem witht he valve body ?MLP? LoL im just throwing ideas

he emailed me back wont be out of teaching class till 12:30 cali time!! so that make it 3:30 our time  so i wont get a straight answer till then , and sleeping .:(

hes pulling my leg and making me think(sayibg i should be able to trouble sh0ot it:blah: ) lol

anyway the only thing i can briefly think of is the valve body, throtle v cable , and or governor problems. . i only tested 3 out which im no expert but prussure testing at a AT shop is the only bet (unless you know how to pressure test it yourself.

i would strongly lean at teh governor since it controls MLP(main line pressure).

possible valve body issue. if the trans has set up for any amount of time in a dry (with out fluid) condition one of the valves, balls ect could have frozen in place. you can try to disassemble the valve body with the unit in the car, clean it and reassemble. just be VERY careful. if not some of the small balls can become lost. also be sure to replace them in the same spot making sure they move smoothly.

VERY true. specially since the tolerances are extremely tight

Most likely its not a problem with any of the checkballs in the valve body, the pressure that an auto trany makes would move the check balls of the seats, it defenitly sounds like a problem with the modulator valve aka:throotle valve. You have all your gears you just cant up shift wich is what the modulator does. Is it a full manual auto or auto with a manual valve? I would check at the modulator ,if you have one, make sure he vacume line is hooked up/hooked up to the right vacume source, also check that you dont have a restriction in the line. if there is no problem with that make sure you have proper mainline pressure. i have a manual that help trouble shoots gm auto trany but i gotta find it, but check the modulator and give me a call after that.

thanks man i appreciate it im going up to topspeed today so ill know more first hand once i get there 'well with the limited mechanical knowledge i have anyway" but from what daveH said its a manual valve tranny, no vacuum lines and i think he said no module but ill double check that/ ill call you once i reach topspeed today hopefully its something small and we figure it out today if not another week without the dog hitting the streets
