My parents just got back their 1967 Plymouth Fury III convertible this past weekend. As of now the engine wont crank because of a bad starter and the front main seal on the 3speed auto is bad and it leaks tranny fluid.

It's got a couple things to fix to get it working correctly but it'll be a fun project for the summer.

A couple teaser pics:

My grandpa bought the car originally. I think it was red with a white top originally.

Then my grandpa ended up having a whole bunch of leftover mauve paint so he painted their VW bug and the Fury III mauve. My uncle drove the car for a bit in his 20s and then my mom got the car back when her and my father lived down in Texas. My dad thought the color was girly so he had it painted blue, then in the early 90s my dad decides he wants to have it restored for my mom. We end up going to a couple of different shops and kept getting dicked around until about 2 years ago when we found a good builder. He pretty much reformed the side panels and welded aluminum sheet metal over the old rusty frame.

The convertible top is brand new and has to stay up for 3 more weeks to stretch out properly. Some adjustments have to be made to the boot as soon as we can lower the top. A lot of the electrical switches do not work but all the wiring is very simply and me and my friends are going to try and do as much work on the car as we can.

My parents say if me and my friends can get it running they'll let us drive it :yay:

there was a galaxy in buckhead two days ago I was checking out during lunch, perfect bright red (from the distance i was at), top down w/ black vinyl interior and all the chrome was spotless, it was parked in the hot freakin sun...sucks for them when they sit down. Kinda the same styling, like the fury it's another one of those cars that's sometimes overlooked as a great cruising car but has so much potential, the lines are already clean from the factory....i wonder what chip foose could do with them?
