My car has this problem where It would not let the car start up (It would crank, just not start) I put some water into the radiator, and the problem would fix instantly. I thought it was having a radiator leak somewhere, so I checked all over, but couldn't find anything. The car was taken to Pep-boys, and the people said that they had found exhaust fumes in the radiator fluid, which they said meant a damaged head gasket, and therefor water had been making its way into the piston chamber. The weird thing though is that the car runs perfectly normal (as far as I can tell) no stalling out, no loss of power, it doesnt run rough and I can't see any steam coming from the exhaust. The problem had been going on for about a week or so before It was taken to Pep-boys. Anyone got any ideas about what the problem could be?

Well, the guys at Pep-boys were completely wrong. They said broken headgasket, and no leak, The real problem was a leak in the water pump, and the headgasket was fine. Pep-boys SUCKS.

Turns out the car is perfectly fine to drive, the reason it wasn't starting up (the new guys say) is that the fuel pump relay had been getting hot (it gets about 110 in my car) causing it to not let fuel to goto the engine. He said these things commonly fail on the d15 civics, all I gotta do is just wait about 30 seconds with my door open for it to cool off.

if the car will crank for extended amount of time an wont actually start up, its most likely the MAIN RELAY under the dash. EFs are NOTORIOUS for it.

Turn the key to the first position, you should hear a "click " noise that coincides with the CEL turning off. thats the fuel pump kicking on. if it doesnt click, bang on the dash by the fuse cover to get the car to start.

god damn main relays suck lol
