A couple of friends and I decided to take a few pics tonight, a few turned out decent but 99% of them didn't.

a quick question for you, when you are just taking general shots do you always use auto focus or manual. i took probably 100 shots in manual and 90 of them are out of focus but they looked perfect on the screen. do you think using autofocus would help that?

Thats thing about manual, when looking at a smaller screen, even blurred shots appear sharp. For avatar sized pics its fine, but blown up sizes manual focus sucks. Especially in night time situations auto focus is perfect, just make sure your focus bracket is on the appropriate area you need focused. If the camera detects little to no ambient light, you will have a an aux light that shines on the subject to allow the camera to focus in better. I shoot in auto focus in most if not all situations. Only time I use manual is when I 100 percent have trouble getting the auto focus to get the subject im shooting.

alright that probably would have helped a lot, nothing like coming home and having 3% of your pictures turn out decent. i dont know why i didnt even think about it at the time
