Anybody using a Needswings Cutout Downpipe?? Im thinking about picking one up with the electric cutout before we move Just wondering what you guys think...

If you are boosting, you may want to check out the ATP boost activated cut-out. It opens the valve when you hit boost. You could even set it to stay closed until a desired psi for cruising the street.


I plan on installing a few on some street turbo cars. While out of boost, or below 4psi the car will be quite, but once you are into it, it will be open downpipe.

Well its sounds like a pretty good product except Im normally boosting more than 4 psi on the street and I would like it to be open the whole time I do my (Sprited Driving) That way I can spool up the (now only 17 psi) as quickly as possible... Is it possible to set that downpipe to dump at a lower psi then re set it to not dump till like 10 or 15?

They have alot of problems, the motor goes out on them all the time. Just run a open Dp its not that loud unless you getting on it hard.
Ive had 3 police behind me and i just get off gas and its quite as can be!!

Yea, i wouldnt mind running you, i have beaten WRX's from a dig, and an 05 STI from a roll, and you said yours runs a 13.8 stock, so its an sti right? but you also have the cobb reflash... so im pretty sure youll take me, but for shits, ill run ya :)

Lol calling people out before we even get there... Bound to get broken in pretty well by the STI...Should be pretty cool to get there though Is there many super RICER kids? I love those kinds of kids with the NA d15 hondas with massive fart cans.. Or perhaps the Chevy cavilier drivers.. They think they will get their First win On my cruiser so they always run me lol. I would like to get some serious runs too though...

Well, actually it is designed to open when boost hits, but with a boost controller installed in the line, it will open at whatever psi you want it to. This way, you can run a stock exhaust, but have open downpipe as soon as you hit boost, or whatever psi you want the cutout to open.


And yes, the electric cutouts break the electric motors and parts all the time. Not worth the money if you ask me.


With the ATP design, you can have the ultimate sleeper turbo car, and fly under the police radar when you are not in boost.

ATP's boost-actuated cutout has one major flaw that people seem to overlook... it takes away the most essential advantage of dumping exhaust gases into the atmosphere as close to the turbo as possible: spool-up. If the butterfly valve actuates only once boost is begun to be created, it does very little to nothing in order to aid the spool... I'm sure it'll still make more power than a traditional TBE though. Now, if you have that same butterfly valve wide open before going WOT, I guarantee that spool will be aided, torque will increase, and perhaps overall power as well.

The downside, of course, is... all electronic cut-outs eventually fail. Don't worry though, they're cheap to rebuild and easy too.

I'm runnin the Needswings DP on my srt and I love it. Very noticible torque difference. I do recommend gettin the McCord with it cuz it can get really annoying having the DP open all the time.
