Stevie ray all the way. But I must admit Steve vai is a badass. There are so many greats that I don't know if you can pick a one. I can say that Eric Clapton is the most overrated guitar player ever.

I really wasn't impressed with that first vid. It's the same stuff Vai was doing 15 years ago. I was more impressed that he had both Billy Sheehan and Tony McCalpine (sp) with him on stage.
That second vid...Billy Sheehan is a badass.
And it looks like Sheehan is coming out here during his world tour to do some kind of clinic in SC:

Truthfully, the baddest alive is probably Buckethead. Look him up.....
But it is close.

Look him up?! Hahaha! He's my favorite guitarist. I've been listening to him since 96. INCREDIBLE. But I seriously think that he may be a famous guitarist in disguise. Maybe even Steve Vai. Same lanky physique and everything. He's a little bit sloppier...but if you were Steve Vai pretending to be a dude raised in a coop...you'd probably mess some stuff up on purpose.
I saw him play a show in San Fran back in 2000. It was just him and DJ Disc. Totally badass.

The first vid is great, its a song off his latest cd he released in 05. Billy sheehan and tony both were on the g3 tour with vai. What impresses me is while vai does tend to go off on wierd tangents at times, look at how laid back and effortless he plays. The smoothness at which he taps the beginning of building the church is absolutely crazy. My favorite vai song is still tender surrender though. I think i wasnt impressed with the 2nd vid because im not a big petrucci fan

Clapton are you kidding me, he doesnt even hold a candle to the people mentioned so far.
Pettruci, Vai, Satrani, Malstein are all awesome. Heres a few you should check out as well, George Lynch(Lynch Mob) Zakk Wylde(Ozzie, Black Label Society)
Both are incredible and Zakk is coming back to town in october. I never in the last 8 years have missed a show in Atlanta put on by any of the above mentioned artist.

John Petrucci FTW.
I second that. I got the chance to see the G3 show with Petrucci several years back. Fantastic.
