Thanks! The car is for a little bit of both. Will do some exterior/interior work on it but also want to get some power out of the 1zz and still have it as a DD.

ready for 2zz swap??

JCRolla

I'm a little undecided about that one. The 2zz does have more stock power but I heard many people prefer to go the 1zz route.....

curious, whay did u choose your first mods to be rims and gauges.?

JCRolla
08-09-2006, 12:08 PM
Hmm... wheels because I did not like the look of the steelies that the car came with. The gauges are standard :). I bought it new so didn't want to touch performance too much b/c of the warranty. Im working on sound right now; already replaced all the speakers for Xplods and have the subs ready to go in. Looking for a MEX-R5 head unti to put in it too!

Lol, im just not sure about the 1zz's potential.

I know. I used to think the same but then saw this video:

http://www.hassturbo.com/video/mr2/Jay-1129.mpg (http://www.hassturbo.com/video/mr2/Jay-1129.mpg)

And now I wonder how much power I can get out of the car. I know it's not the same car and it is a lighter body thn the Corolla, but who knows http://forums.importatlanta.com/images/smilies/goodjob.gif I have always liked the 2zz though soo we'll see

Man i work for toyota and after having several 1zz pulled apart i doubt that motor will hold very long with a gt28rs lol.

The 3s-gte swap does sound nice. I wonder if it has been ever done http://forums.importatlanta.com/images/smilies/confused.gif. And on top of that, how much would it be?

you guys contacted dr. tweak? he did a 3sgte in the 6th gen celica.... anything can be done... it's just do you have the $$$$... 1zz is a good platform but limited same as the 2zz...

and honestly i really don't think anyone has done a 3sgte in a corolla/matrix engine bay yet... at least not in a matrix...

has been done a couple times in the ae101. my modle year corolla. and i am doing it aswell. As for cost it is about a 5k swap but worth every penny.

isn't your model different than his? i'm not saying it's never been done on any corollas... but so far i have not heard or seen anyone doing it to the 03+ corolla/matrix frame...

lol?

1ZZ-FE is in a lot of Toyotas... (MR-S, Celica, Corolla Matrix, Corolla)
You can boost it with s/c or turbo , depending on what you like/need/want.

Go to turbo-kits.com

Anyways, welcome, go to 9thgencorolla.com ...lots of info about the 9thgen corolla there.

ready for 2zz swap??

Sir, You don't know what you're talking about. It's not even worth doing the swap, at all. I don't care what you say/think. You have no idea how much work it is and how much it won't be worth to do. You're better off buying a Corolla XRS.

What kind of numbers have you seen with a 2zz?

Just look at Lotus, Celica GT-S with the GReddy s/c, or check Hass for their setups.

A guy on the 9thgencorolla forum has done the GReddy s/c setup for the Corolla XRS, but turbo is looking better at the moment.

I hope it is posible. The zz engines are very limited in power. The 3S-GTE has a lot more potential though. It would be nice to see if it can be done.

What about the tC's engine, the 2AZ-FE? I know it is a N/A and it is the same Camry 4cyl engine, but there is a lot of aftermarket performance parts for it. I can't really tell if it is worth it or not though.

If you want my honest opinion.... don't swap it. It is NOT worth swapping. Just find an XRS. Just get a turbo kit for your engine if you want some power/speed.
