Ok so i just dropped my tranny off to get rebuilt for my new motor, they're like 150 bux plus parts... so i'm like wowzer... good deal. So i figure i'd need about 300 bux in parts, etc... Well they call back today and give me a 750$ estimate... i'm like :wtf: so now i'm at a standstill. I didn't tell him no, but I didnt say yes either. I told him i'd call back.

I dont know what I should do? I can get a used tranny from the junkyard for 200 bux, but It might be just as bad as mines. Hrm... i'm wondering what I should do.

I asked the guy if i can order my own parts (www.drivetrain.com) he gets pissed like you dont go to waffle house and bring your own eggs... lolol...pwnd

but why the fuck are they raping on parts prices.

anyways so what should i do.

I say get it rebuilt, cause your right if you get one from the Junkyard it's kinda luck of the draw you may get a good one, but yet then again you may get one that sounds like the world is coming apart.

That's just my :2cents:

i can get the parts pretty cheap, but i've never done it before, etc. Its a tranny and i figured if labor was only 150 bux i'll let the pros do it. Haha thats when i found out why labor is only 150$

Haha thats when i found out why labor is only 150$Well, since you can source parts, why not call around and see what shops would charge you just for labor if you took them the parts. Probably won't be $150, but it's a option worth considering. Just tally up the cost of the parts then labor and see which route is cheaper.
