i have a second hardrive just for storage. Last week my pc would not boot so i narrowed it down to the second hard drive as the root of the problem.

When it is plugged in my pc will not boot up I cannot even get to safe mode it just freezes. When i unplug it it boots fine.

i have tried a different ide cable and i have checked my bios settings to make sure everything is correct.

I would like to save my infoprmation on the hard drive if possible

any suggestions?

Ummm. Go into your BIOS and check the boot priority. Make sure the computer isn't trying to boot up from your storage hard drive, because obviously it can't.

When the storage hard drive is disconnected it will obviously default to its next boot device, which would be your other hard drive. It may just be that the computer is checking for the wrong hard drive first. You can change that in your BIOS.

also if the hdd is broken u can put it in a ziplock bag and put it in freezre for a while and then QUICKLY hooks it up to the main ocmputer and grab the information off of it "if you dont believe me google it up" but when the hdd gets warmed up = fails again
