Ok I'm looking into getting a B20 and redoing my GSR head and doing a B20 VTEC, really because I can a B20 for a lot cheaper then a new B18c1. Plus it has a lot more torque. I know you can buy the VTEC kits to do this but, what are some good shops that can do this and how much is this going to cost? Or Is it just worth me getting the B18C1? Any oppinions

this question has been answered a million times on both here and honda-tech.. most people do the ls or b20 bottom end to save money.. unless you are going to spend the money on rod bolts and you dont mind not reving it to oblivion everyday than yes.. its a good idea. Most people enjoy the tq they put down but some do miss the rev happy gsr/b16 bottom ends...
^^ not saying you cant rev the piss out of one... look at mspi 240 whp build... or the sticky about the ls/vtec builds at the top of this forum...

Well i have a b20b and im about todo the same thing. U need to know what type of b20 u have. JDM has no number at the end like mine. US has a number at the end of the code. I found out that there are like 6 or at types. Some with better cams then others. Some with higher compression... Some out of cars that come with the P75 heads... Check this link...

either rebuild the GSR, or build the b20
B20vtecs an lsvtecs are waste of money unless they are built

well I raced my friend who has a B20 in his Integra the other night, and he has all the same stuff I have done to my motor and we were neck and neck, I was hardly pulling on him after about 100 mph but I don't care to much to go faster than that anyway on the streets. So when it comes to it I guess I'll just rebuild my motor it seems like the easiest and most logical thing to do.

if he has a b20, and you have a b18c1 and he was neck and neck with you....you can't drive then. You should have dusted him off the drop.

no we just did a third gear drop on the highway and he would pull for a second then I spent the rest of the time coming back on him. Its not like I can't drive or my car is slow I've beaten every GSR and SI(N/A) that I've raced so far

b20 blocks have thin walls so get a block guard put in the block if you gonna use it

Don,t need block guard for a n/a setup...BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR RODs...Stock b20 rods can't take high rpm all the time......Like Mr. Vteckidd said build it,gsr oil pump, etc

I have a question dealing with this topic. It seems the weak points of the bottom end seem to be the rods and Ive always done the studs / bolts anyways. What else would be needed to get a B20 block to rev and not have to really worry about it? Is there any stock rod like a GSR or the like to run in the block thats stronger than the stock B20 rod or is aftermarket the only way to go?
