rap from New Orleans and Houston is just as bad.lol.they yell a lot more now, like just shouting and stuff, not even like "make em say ughh" style. it seems like its a contest/joke to see if people will still listen to it..

anyway, i understand where ya coming from.they're are good lyricists from the south, they just get no airplay on the radio.unless its on 88.5.
i highly recommend you check out Little brother( from Durham,NC)and other groups like Pschye Origami(from ATL) and Minimina Goodsong(from Marietta).

def not heard among the masses but appreciated by the ears of those who want to hear something different and to show that the South does have artists with talent.

Here is my take. The music that you hate is popular right now because its what gets people dancing. I listen to the sutff that DeutscheBAG! posted, and its good music, but It wont fill up the floor at the club. Music comes and goes in cycles. The snappin really blew up (all over, not just here) in the spring and summer, when people are out and want to "dance and be happy". I'm shure once the winter comes, more mellow music will get popular again. Then next spring, there will be some new stuff from the south that will have people dancing again.

Rick Ross, Playa Fly, OutKast (oldschool), and maybe some T.i/jeezy fill my cd player for this week or next! Then I have to go search for something else!

Playa fly is serious stuff!!!

Think Pastor Troy deepness + Three Six rap style + utterly crazy life story. When I want a dose of the real streets besides just the drug side of it, I definately pop him in. Rick Ross, ehh, it's like, well I went through enough trouble to listen to every Jeezy song so far, might as well take a chance on his protege! Most all know Rick Ross has been doing 305 underground for awhile and is known for his crazy down south intrumentals so it wasn't hard to press the download button when I came across Port of Miami! He has some good music on there. It's like a toned down Jeezy with the same interesting lyrics. He's pretty creative to be so un-heard of by most of the hip-hop community!

They are cool, but I must agree with this shit is getting old. There are so many retarded ass dances out and shit and everyone is running wild with this lean and rock shit. Me and Jesse were talking a while back to the days when rap music was actually talking about something. We were listening to my Fugess cd and it made me think. Rap today ain't saying shit! It's just really something you can dance to and that is about the only reason I still listen to it. I prefer Neo Soul and Ambiance really

for those that clubb hop on weekends...Southern Rap ownz.

i would not classify Atlanta music as rap. More like Krunk music that gets u singing/bouncing along with the beat.

u no like, u no listen!

You can't classify the current music produced by Atlanta (excluding T.I., Outkast) rap, b/c that music is, like you said is club music. People who waste time and say groups like D4L and the trap squad suck are dumb as shit. Everybody knows they fucking suck, shit even the muthafuckas that like them know they suck. Their purpose isn't to wow you with their lyrics, their purpose is to make a shitload of money in small amt of time. The music industry (the rap music industry mind you) has become so trend driven that it doesn't matter if u suck, if u fall within the current trend u can potentially make money.

It just like how it is with jeezy. I listen to him jeezy's instrumental's b/c as a lyricists he's not that great, but his beats are pretty sick. Lil wayne would rip his ass up in a battle. Whatever!! It's frustrating that ppl on here are just like southern rap sucks and bla fucking bla. Southern rap is the SHIT hands down. Can the Game fuck with Lil wayne, the fuck outta here.

Ppl who thinks southern rap sucks, tell me what region of the USA is doing it bigger or better.

Exactly! I remember the good ole days of Warren G, N.W.A., Dre, Snoop (When he was hardcore), Bone, Easy E, Too Short, etc...

These days though it gets people moving on the floor and that's all that matters.

Rap is NOT crunk music. Rap was around before crunk crap. I agree with your definition of hiphop, though. Later, QD.
