so as of right now, I am at work, and I am making ZERO progress towards finishing these jobs... why? Because I came in and one of our black and white printers was broken. That's fine and dandy, whatever... there's a big job running on the other black and white printer. So as soon as the day crew leaves, the other black and white printer that is running freaks out about an elevator fault (the elevator being the thing that lifts the paper up to the proper position, in case you didn't know). So I open the tray that it's freaking out about...

THE WHOLE FUCKING ELEVATOR FELL OFF THE TRAY AND ONTO THE FLOOR...

So at first I'm like :lmfao: "Figures!" and I go to hook it back on (it appeared to be held on by two little hooks. The thing is NOT hooking... so I've gone from :lmfao: to  I get it quasi-hooked and go to push the tray back in... thing falls off again. Move from :lmfao: to  to  ...

Well, I think I'm gonna be smooth, hold the job, and simply switch trays, since obviously that one is not gonna be working anytime soon. So I pull out tray 2 which is directly under the broken tray. I hear a thunk...

Tray 1's elevator fell off, hit tray 2's elevator, and broke IT off.

I am now going

So I try to gently push Tray 2 back in, thinking that if the tech only sees one broken elevator when he gets here, it won't be so bad.....

Tray 2 broke off the rails.

Tray 1 followed suit.

I have now caused about $2500 in damage to this machine.

Fuck... this... shit...

Maybe I just need to have a kid so I can be like the other girls from my highschool and live off the government and never have to actually work cause I get pregnant once a year and the gov't pays for everything so long as there is a child under a year old in the house...

But that involves the whole :idb: thing.... ewwwww

K.. so the carnage.. this is tray 1.. The whole thing that I am holding up (my fingers are holding up most of it and my pointer finger is holding up a random broken piece).. that whole thing is supposed to be EVEN with the silver post on the right (you can see where the plastic is broken at the bottom of the post

Crappy pic of tray 2... but you can see how the whole elevator/mechanical device thing is angled down? Well it's supposed to be EVEN... as in PARALLEL to the bottom of the tray... FLAT... When the elevator fell on it the whole thing snapped down, and I can't get it to snap back up

Do like any smart person quitting would do...

Grab it, pick it up, throw it around and completely demolish it. Then grab a sharpie/permanent marker and write on the biggest piece left "I QUIT" really big. Lay any weapons used in the destruction up against the machine, and walk out.

:goodjob:

On another note...sorry to hear you got ownd by a machine...own it back?

It may be bad for job background, but you had fun, right? ;)

What company came to fix it? If it was a company called AOM (Atlanta Office Machines) I probably used to work with that guy. Judging by the pictures...that machine was probably around 5K-10K$ But...I don't know the machines THAT well. I know they can get up to around 100K$...

The machine I broke is a $17,000 machine that we have on lease from Xerox... meaning it's not even really ours to break... even though we do so ALL the time. It's a xerox 6115... The repair guys are from Xerox corp., and the guy that came out today was the bastard. There's two guys on call... Keith is nice. Jim is an ass. Unfortunately I got Jim. UGH!

SixSquared

this one was $3k and he was only there for like 2 hours, but he put in a LOT of new parts... like literally replaced both trays. I know we're on some kind of contract with them where we can call it in 24/7... I dunno what like the average repair bill is. Don't care to know, either :D

EvasiveEF9
07-31-2006, 11:16 AM
If you're asking me, it all depends on what the tech did, and what's in the contract. Wasn't really my department, so that's all I can really tell ya.
