yes or no

i do. i never did then someone told me about a person's integra auto that rolls in park. i couldn't stop laughing.

putting the e-brake up before letting go of the reg brakes and parking so the car does not hit the pin that locks/holds the tranny most likely puts less strain on the tranny when shifting in and out of park.

am i right or full of shit and to worried about and auto tranny?

I do just not thinking my 240 is a 5 speed, but if I drive an auto I always pull it up. Sometimes I even jiggle the shifter at a red light as I come to a stop making sure it is in neutreal... (sp..)

Nope. If I'm driving an auto, it's not my car and I really don't care if it escapes :lmfao:

I probably do out of habit but I don't do it on purpose.

depending on the car i do..however i usually dont when i drive my girlfriend's Xterra because it has the stupid handle thing you pull in the knee bolster area.

When i had my old accord that was an auto i always pulled it up.

I always pull it on my car and every car that i drive. It saves the tranny...especially on the honda!

Its a good idea, i always try to if im in an auto for some strange reason. Having opened several automatics, it would scare some of you how fragile the parking pawl is that holds your car in park lol.

That's the correct procedure.

Even if you're not on a steep incline. Always use it.

^^^ yeah if you take your foot of the brake then pull the parking break you kinda defeated the point of putting less stress on the tranny....

yah i hated when my mom did that. in her car i don't care if she does it or not. just not in my car or my dads car. i hate foot e-brakes tho. defeats the damn point, if your in a car.

I pull the e-brake when parking an auto only when going into drift mode at 80 mph.

yes.... it may, "automatically" move.

Yeah, it's habit.. I noticed that when my dad drives a manual he'll just put it in gear and let it sit. "It won't go anywhere.."

I always pull the e-brake regardless of auto or manual. Manual goes into 1st gear, and the e-brake gets pulled.

Whenever I am driving an auto, I do. I am in the school that believes it puts less strain on the transmission through preventing any movement and thereby causing a harmful energy transfer to the transmission. BTW- thanks Flip.
