What do you drive and what kind of gas mileage do you get out of it? I am currently looking at purchasing a truck or suv but im not sure I really want to pay for the gas mileage that some of them may get.. so if you dont mind post up what you are driving, how you drive it and what kind of fuel economy it gets.. it would be greatly appreciated... Reps will be given :)

i have a 2004 chevy 2500 duramax/allison 5spd auto extended cab 2x4 8' bed. i have a f250 work top on the truck so it is not very areodynamic right now. in town i get about 12-15 i pull alot of trailers so sometimes i get lower on the hwy i get more but hard to tell mostly drive around town. i think i got 18+ going to savannah when it was new without the top i got 19 on the hwy. i had a 2002 f250 with the 7.3 powerstroke and got the same mpg's hope this helps.... after having 4 diesel trucks and 2 gas trucks i will never go back to gas....

98 Ford Econoline with the 5.4V8...10mpg in the city and about 14 on the hwy, less if I have a trailer. 8000lb vans are not very aerodynamic or cost effective.

2006 chevy silverado 5.3l v8 1500 crew cab. I get about 16mpg with out the trailer. Usually spend about $60-80 a week on gas, depending on the price of gas.

i have a f150 5.4 and if i get 10mpg im in heaven that week... Also have an aviator that gets 14.5mpg city/hwy. If i had to choose on save mpg id go with a chev. 07 has the new engine that goes from v8 to v4 to save on gas on the hwy.... or maybe a hib........

Good information everyone :) , I'm looking at a Diesel for 3 major reasons, fuel economy, towing capacity, engine durability. But at the same time.. Damn a gas burner is so much cheaper.. initally..

Well for those reasons id differently spend the extra 3k for a diesel.

97 Jeep Cherokee (Inline 6cyl 4.0L). I get 20MPG with a even mix of city/hwy. If its all hwy, I can get about 25mpg.

I drive an '04 Dodge 2500 4x4 with a Hemi. It's got a 6 inch lift on 37" tires. The best I've ever seen was 14 on a road trip to Biloxi with my girl driving most of the time. Most of the time I get 9. something, but I drive the hell out of it. Pulling a trailer I've seen as low as 8 going from Cham Tucker to Gainesville. Runs about $90 to fill it up.
I've heard that diesels are not that much better, only with calm long hwy trips will you see high teens...
Towing capacity is great with the Hemi. I can pull 13k no problem.... and I can stop too, most of the time...
Durability, you got me there... I don't expect mine to live much past 60k miles...

Good luck.

'99 Land Rover Discovery II....V8 4.0L. I average about 14-15mpg both city and highway.

I am looking at picking up either an '05+ Pathfinder (4.0L V6 that can get over 20-22mpg) or an '03+ (4th gen) 4Runner V6 that will get about the same.

i have a 01 ford f250 with the 7.3 turbo diesel it has everything, 4x4 lariat bla bla bla has the short bed for looks and turning radius, but is the four door so...... On 285x75x16's i get 17 on the interstate no load and 14 around town no load. single car trailor and a light sports car (rx7, Porsche, Supra, ect) it gets about 12 on the interstate and 10 around town. you can chip the truck and it will get upwards of 20 without a trailor.

If it were only 3k that would be a no brainer, the cost on a new(ish) truck is more like 8k difference. :(

97 Ford Explorer... after seafoaming the engine and doing a "fuel treatment" (not sure if it works for shit or not), I get about 18hwy/16city (and by city I mean Athens, not ATL... I never calculated what I get in actual stop and go traffic), which is not too bad. 18 gallon tank, usually costs around $55 to fill it all the way with regular, but for $8 more I get the premium in there and get the higher gas mileage (18/16 is with premium... regular's more like 15/12 or so)

Don't do it unless you need it for hauling shit or something of that nature. I drive a 93 Isuzu Rodeo and it only gets 16 mph around town. My next vehicle is going to be either an 01-03 Infiniti QX4 or an 01-04 Nissan Pathfinder. I am to poor to afford the new bodystyle Pathfinder LOL

GMC 1500 HD crew

I average around 15 - 16 mpg, but have seen 20. I installed a K&N FIPK intake and exhaust to help with mileage.

Averaged 12 mpg hauling a heavy ass mustang with a 2000lb trailer with the cruise set on 80 mph.
