I think Berettas are the shit. They look pretty cool IMO and have probably one of the best names in automotive history. I mean come on how can you not go wrong naming your car after a highly popular gun? You CANT. Well maybe you can considering the Berettas arent made anymore but when I have enough spare money one day I will buy one just so I can live "The Beretta Lifestyle".

Joecoolfreak: I'm actually quite interested in this rivalry. Could you maybe post something in the Gen tech or american car forums about it? Thnx :)

Since you asked, I am more than happy to ablige. I have had at least one beretta in the garage for at least 15 years now. Back when they were in full production: 1987 to 1996, they were Chevy's economical sports car. They were a bit more upscale than the cavalier but did share many parts. They also had a four door sister, known as the corsica and they shared almost all underpinnings and a few similiar body panels. As far as competition goes, one would usually look to ford and you will find that the probe was manufactured around the same time and offered similiar engine packages. Styling was fairly progressive for their time when both the beretta and the probe were introduced. It came off an era where domestic automotive giants believed the future of the industry was with fwd cars with economical 4 bangers and for the higher line, V6's. Both the probe and the beretta came in those options. Based on the similiarities and the lack of other cars that compare very well, the probes and the berettas have always had sort of a rivalry going. Ask a beretta fan and they will tell you that it will smoke it and ask a probe fan the same question and they will tell you the opposite. The truth really is it completely depends on which probe is against which beretta and who is driving. I am somewhat jealous of the probe community as there is a slightly larger aftermarket for them and just about anything I want, has to be custom fabbed, but other than that, they are pretty equal in most respects. If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot them out here.

yeah, there is alot more aftermarket stuff for a probe than a beretta... its preety hard to find some stuff now for one... i just got my 94 base awhile ago, i thought it would be easy to find parts for, but it was not... oh well, my dad owned one when i waslike 8 or 9 and i always liked that car.. it was a 1988 Gt i think, it was fast to be stock... i just cant wait to get mine fixed and running again.. if anyone can help me with some parts, pm me and let me no...

My boss had a Beretta when I had my Probe. There was no comparision. My Probe was a lot faster and handled a lot better. I never liked the Berettas - it was the only car that would squat the rear when you hit the brakes.
