From what I understand, the shape of the oil pan (due to the design of the oil sump) makes you need to basically make a new subframe for the SR to sit in. That's the only major roadblock I've heard of, there may be more.

Just a thought, but I'd rather cut and weld a pan than a frame.

The oil sump itself is the issue. You could probably switch to a dry-sump system instead. But thats' $$$$$$$$$$$$.

Another issue is the shifter, which will sit about 6" back from the stock location (unless you use the KA truck tranny, but thats up to you). Also, the steering shaft and the exhaust hit, but thats nothign that cant be fixed.

I say hit it.

the mini truck guys make lowering kits, you should try that before you try to install coil springs.

you can switch to an IRS rear end but it is a lot of work. The rear end of the Hardbody is about 6" narrower than the 240, so you cant use the 240 rear subframe without a lot of custom narrowing work. Another option is to use an FB or FC RX7 rear end, it still requires a lot of work but it is about the right width. Custom driveshaft needed, of course.

this will give you any number of options for the rear, but the front is pretty much going to be torsion bars in the end, which sux. Id worry more about the front than the back, and also how you are going to keep the rear end from breaking loose when you dont want it to.
