So this weekend was my first time at the drag strip. It was so much fun!! I think I did pretty well considering. I ran my car 3 times and here are my results. What do you guys think?

Run 1:
My first and best. Pretty good launch, maybe a tad too much wheel spin.
R/T 1.205
60' 1.839
1/4 13.653
MPH 98.82

Run 2:
Bogged launch a little. Missed 5th. Didn't grind, just wouldn't go in. I really need new tranny fluid...
R/T 1.170
60' 2.042
1/4 13.825
MPH 96.81

Run 3:
Bogged launch a little again. Shifted slower so I wouldn't miss gears until I replace tranny fluid...
R/T .929
60' 2.027
1/4 13.994
MPH 97.99

The only engine mods I have are a downpipe and exhaust...

Tips? Hints? Advice? What do I need to work on to get my times lower?

I've gotta 5-speed, seems like I have pretty short gearing since I shift into 4th at 95 mph revving to about 8500. 9000 RPMs takes me to 99 mph though :).

Damn I go into 5th at 85 or 90 but I've got a short geared STi 5speed.

A 1.8 sec 60ft is pretty good in an STi, good drivers can get that down to a 1.7 or maybe a 1.6 and that works out to better quarter mile times. How are you launching your car?

Well mostly it's just feel but i'm pretty sure i'm dumping it around 5k. I try to sweep from 4 to 5 and as i pass 5, i dump it so i launch in boost... I don't just rip it out as fast as i can, but i don't realy do any slipping either.... The last two runs were bad because i bogged a little... I'm pretty sure i was just confuzed from wearing a helmet that was 3530 sizes to small for me LOL.

I dont have much drag experience but I've heard slipping and feathering the clutch is the best way to launch an all wheel drive car.

I might have to play with that... Preferably in the rain heh :). Nicer on the clutch...

I've slipped it before and don't really think i feel it launching nearly as hard as when i launch the way I have been... Not sure tho. Maybe I need to ride with someone that has it down...

They way i launch my car is rev it to around 5.5k then quickly release the clutch.
i dont slip it (burns the clutch) or side steping it (bogs)
i cut 1.6 60' most of the time but i get some wheelspin cause my tires suck http://forums.importatlanta.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Well thats my http://forums.importatlanta.com/images/smilies/2cents.gif not a scooby but maybe it could help http://forums.importatlanta.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

when your at the tree I see your R/T is a little slow. When you see the 3rd yellow light come on take off dont wait for the green. when go at the last yellow by the time you actually start moving youll cross the line right about the time the green comes on. Alot of you guys ive seen at commerce wait tillthe light is green. your waitng to long to get going. you might have a good time but youll loose because the other person has a better reaction time.

As for your time not bad for a first time. Good job. If you dump the clutch youll be without a clutch real soon. I launch my evo by rooling it off ie slipping. it may burn the clutch more you do it but you dont have to take the risk of something braking from a all of a sudden shoke like when you drop it.

anyways the more you go the better youll get so keep hitting the tracks.

take it to 5-6k and bleep the gas that way your not in vaccum when u launch. also try to shift at around 6k and don't redline it. after 6k you have no more tq so your beating a dead horse.
