so i have an idea for my 95' 240 . i wanna targa top if anyone knows someone who makes a kit or any shop that can do good custom work id appreciate the info. also has anyone else heard of this or kno of any pictures of someone whos tried

Just cut the top off.

It isn't like it didn't come with a targa for a reason.

There is no structural support there. So you are ok if you wanna just chop it off.

yeah, just cut it off and watch it buckle in the middle the first time you hit a bump ;).


why not just sell the 240 and buy a MKIII or MKIV supra that already has a targa top instead of spending $2000 on the 240 trying to make it have a targa?

well because i dont want a supra ive fallen in love with my nissan. i want to targa the 240 because its unique. im sure theres soemthign i can do for the structural support.
all in all thanks for some opinions but no real useful information.

Obviously a mark 4 is out of the question if somebody wants to put a targa in a 240 they cant buy a supra.

Now a mark 3.....thats a new ballgame. Go buy a 87.5 and have fun with your coolant burning heap of late 80's shit.

God, dont ruin a car someone else could do better.

I think its pretty shitty for you guys to talk about what a tard he is for wanting to do something to his car. Dont matter if you would do it or not but its his freaking money and his car. Hell I would rather see someone do something like that to it than seagulls and neon lights ;)

Anyway to your question about doing it. You will have to redo the frame area of the car between the firewall and rear wheels to support the middle of the car from trying to buckle. Additional frameboxing and some sort of crossmembers would have to be utilized to carry the stress. It will be alot of custom work not just counting doing the roof its self. Actually you will have more work in the frame than what it takes to do the top. When you cut the top your doors will then be holding the car up in the middle. If you open your doors then only the floor pan and frame are holding the car together. Which means once it is done with no support more than likely you will open your doors and your car will buckle and you wont be able to shut the doors. Redesign your frame then start cutting ;)

It's fun, I'm thinking of keeping it now, It's getting paint next week hopefully, probably going with Daytona Blue off the new Z's with the staggered FN01RC's in Bronze 18x8's and 18x9.5.

Yeah that's mine. It's pretty quick right now but I wanna make BIG power in that thing. Eventually I'm going to try an pick up a convertible and do some sort of swap and a silvia front end.
