Ok,
I am taking weight off my 240 it is fat. Anyway, I have taken A/C out, all emission crap, back seats, getting to the sound deadening stuff. I saw an article a while back in a magazine I think, a shop was building a...forgot maybe S2K and they were going into detail with reductions. The shop drilled holes on the trunk hindge, everything! I want to go stupid hardcore like that but forgot where I saw it, anyone else seen it?
I am also removing my door panels, how safe is it to cut some of the bracing off, like the "ribs" as well as in the trunk and stuff. Sorry if this topic is stupid, but I always thought weight reduction was cool lol :goodjob:

if its a race car and not daily driven, you can drill big holes in the bumper support..... actually its just not safe for any car lol

take the motor out....sell the rest of the car...go have a metal tube frame built to fit inside of a polyurethane molding of a 240, throw the motor and a seat in, and the very minuim of what you have to have. and there ya go, lol:D
just agrrivating you. :goodjob:

then realize you've destroyed a perfectly good car for no reason, made it less safe, louder, more uncomfortable, less convenient. Unless it's a track only car, stick to the normal weight reduction stuff.

remove ur airbags take one lugnut off ur wheels gets lot of carbonfiberCF isn't really all that much lighter than OEM panels...not much weight savings until you start getting into the unibody itself anyways.
Most likely won't be able to drill into the bumpers....will burn up hole saw bits like crazy. Best is with a plasma torch, say 3" holes or so all the way across the bumper, you can do the face, top and bottom. Only problem is you don't want to hit anything...bumper covers are good for 5mph and the bumpers themself are much higher but cutting holes in it puts it theoretically down to 1mph...you don't want to hit anything afterthat.

Strip the inside. Take off the front bumper support. Trim the rear one. Get a lawn mower battery or a light drycell. Take everything out from behind the dash (70lbs worth of crap), aluminium one peice driveshaft, aluminium 300zx calipers, winshield wipper pump and resivour. Some other things you can do is gut the doors and have fixed acrylic windows, and acrylic windows all around, minus the front. Here is my old 240 that I stripped, I even took out all seat belts lol.
