We recently had a customer that had a 99-00 Civic Si that was consuming oil regularly. about 2 qts a week. We determined it was his rings that were shot after 120k miles, opted to rebuild it. while we were in the motor we decided to throw some CTR pistons in the mix.

Mods:
B16a2
Stock BORE
CTR PIstons OEM honda rings
DC USDM 4-2-1 header
ApexI World Sport Exhaust
VAFC Tuning
ACL Bearings

Now a bonestock civic si dynos between 130-135whp. A bone stock GSR makes 145-150whp. His baseline with the shot rings was 127whp. thats a SOLID 23whp gain from PISTONS only. The factory hone was still present after 120k miles, so NO MACHINE WORK WAS DONE. more proof that honing is NOT NEEDED if there is still cross hatches, motor doesnt burn a DROP of oil.

Next we are gonna do ITR cams and possibly an AEBS manifold an see if we can push it to 165ish.

I was about to be pissed as a mother fucker if that shit made 165 or something. lol. I still think we should have gotten more out of my motor but who knows when the cracked guide occurred. Good to see. Tell him if he puts an AEBS and a set of M22X cams and valvetrain he can make 170+! I know where he can buy a set right too!

^^ I bet you DO know where he can buy. LOL. Soon I'm gonna have a "spare" B16A soon for you to molest Mike. We'll turn it into a mild back-up motor.

alittle cheaper cam setup might be
gsr exhaust and 97 ctr intake

I gained 11hp on a stock bottom end before putting on my skunk2 mani and port matched TB.

just a thought and a couple dollars less

That says a lot about the sleeve material. The rings on the other hand are shit.... 2 quarts a week?!?!? that sucks! Is that a common thing with the B series rings?

Before we redid my B16 the first time when it was on original everything I was consuming some oil. Once we pulled it apart all of the ring gaps were lined up one one of the pistons so oil was just going straight past the rings into the combustion chambers. Usually with proper break in the OEM Honda Rings whether for PR3, P72, or P73 are some of the best out there. We had to use CP rings once we built my B16 because of an odd bore size that we used, Honda only has OEM rings in .010 and .020 over sizes. On my new GSR bottom end with PR3 pistons we're using OEM rings again.
