my first snooker

This one time, at band camp...
Well not really, but I was 11, and I had a go-kart.
It had a roll bar, indy side rails, coilover front suspension (no shit,) slicks, front cowl. shiny black paint... It was only a 5hp briggs and stratton though LOL, but it most little gokarts had 3 hp.
Anyway, I was like king shit in the neigborhood with this bitch. This redneck kid in the nieghborhood had an orange kart painted like the general lee from Dukes of Hazard, but I easily busted his little POS.
So anyway, this new kid moved in about a year later, and he has this crappy looking two seater...really stripped down, ugly as hell, scratched up. But, as I soon found-out, stripped down makes it good for speed. And, he had a 60 tooth rear sprocket and i had a 72, so I could out drag him, but he could pull on me pretty well at top speed.
Anyway, having a shittly looking go-kart beat me wasnt going to fly, so I decided I needed the edge... So, lets remove the governor!!
So for anyone who has had a go-kart, or a lawnmower even, and took the governor off, its like a rediculous increase in power. I would bet it almost doubles the peak power. It would bog like a mofo out of the hole, but if I tied a sting to it and and pulled it off when I was nearing normal top speed, it was relatively insane.
So, I casually go over to his house and tell him I wanted to race again to try something out, and he's looking at me like Im nuts. He was almost sure he was going to beat me. So anyway, we take off, I pull him out of the hole, then he starts coming by me again, with a big shit eating grin on his face.
Then, I let him have it.
Let me tell you, I tore away from him like ming racing mastakilla. It was ugly...really ugly. The shocked, whining look on his face was priceless.
So of course, he knew what was up. At first he thought I did the sprocket change, but then he saw the string LOL
But, guess what...he was too chicken to blow his up and wouldnt take his off to rematch. So, I had by far the fastest kart in the neighborhood.
And I never blew it up.
Anyway, I just wanted to share. Life is fun at 12.
