Your biggest problem isn't the cracked header, it's the peice of shit motor that it's attatched to.

How is that oil consumption treating ya?

Is this your 1st or 2nd motor?

Wow!

An 02 qr25de without oil consumption! I'll be damned! You got yourself a keeper...well I mean besides the fact your motor really isn't modable.

Yes that means you shouldn't waste your time modding it.

As in putting mods on it.

and why is that. oh and instead of arguing on 3 diffrent forums, lets just stay on one

is it possible to turbo the 02 se-r motor?

Because it is a piece of trash motor. It is decent in stock form, but not really worth it to mod.

yea my buddy had a turbo on his only runnin like 6.5 psi though

turbo was to small though started losing power at about 5 grand

Do you know why this is?

Perpare to get schooled.

The qr25 motor is a very oversquare motor. Meaning it has long stroke and short rods. The piston speeds get insanely high at around 6500rpm on the stock rod length. This means volumetric efficiency falls way off, and the piston can't effectively draw enough air and fuel into the cylinder on the intake stroke. That is why the power drops off. Why waste your time turboing a 4 cyl if you can't rev it past 6500? You won't make any power.

Now if you could shorten the stroke of the motor and put in longer rods you could have yourself a decent motor. This has been attempted by putting an sr20de crank into the motor. It lowers the displacement however but it does allow it to rev higher and smoother. Making it a better overall motor.

I'm gonna guess you have no idea what any of that means.

So lemme make this simpler.

qr25de = bad motor to turbo

sr20de = good motor to turbo

b13/b14/b15 2.0 sentra > se-r spec v.

The motor had to be machined the fuck out of it.

I'm not sure if it was ever even finished.

QR25DE has Tooth pick rods.

here is a solution, buy a qr20dd swap from japland. if thats too much money for you, just buy the crank, but you wont have the nice direct injection system to play with. qr20 revs upwards of 7000 stock with no problem. throw in a set of forged pistons and thicker rods, balance the rotating assembly, and there you have you high revving turbo motor that would even put a good s15 build to shame, (remeber just how well this head flows) Qr's are not so bad.

never, i repeat never, try to argue anything positive about the qr25 against people who drive an sr20. Its just gonna frustrate you. Its like arguing with old people that the color movies today are inferior to their glorious black and white memories.

That being said, the QR25 is not a bad motor. Yes, it has its shortcomings. Can you run an insane amount of boost on a QR25, no. But i'm guessing its your daily driver anyway, no need for insane boost.

Finally, the actual reason this thread was started...
Sorry to hear about your header. Save some money and go with a Hotshot. BTW, I too have an '02 QR25. Its got 54,000ish miles on it and runs great. My dad's SR20 has nothing but problems. Hmm, think I would pick the QR.

Enjoy the car, they don't have to drive it.

My sr20det has never had a problem.

When I had an sr20de in my car it never had a problem either.

I'm really not trying to argue the sr20de or det for that matter is a bad motor or a motor notorious for problems. the point is, every motor has a few bad eggs. the '02 qr25de had a few more problems than most, i will agree to that. But just because we have an '02 doesn't mean that its going to automatically be a disaster.

Not trying to hate on any sentras...
