you have to have the car in by 8 on friday night. You are allowed back into the show Saturday at 2 or 3 in the afternoon. After the show ends on Saturday night you can then take your car from the building

Do they kick everybody out at a certain time? Is it safe? When do they judge? I read something about disconnecting your battery, what do I have to do to have power? Thanks for ya'lls help

They have EVERYONE out of the building by a certain time on Friday night, then the place is VERY secure. I kept my windows down on my car overnight there last year.

You are allowed back in about 2:00 to prep your car. They start to judge at about 4:00 and they open the doors to the public at 5:00. The show ends at Midnight and as soon as they get all the spectators out of the building, they will open the rear bay door and allow everyone out.

You mist disconnect your battery. If you want power its about $75 for the 5 hours and you need a inverter hooked to the terminals of your car.

MAKE SURE you arrive with under 1/4 tank of gas or you will not be allowed into the venue.

u can pull the fuse too....but dont park next to me... :D They are real strick on the gas level...

Brett

The gas thing to be is so funny, because if they did it for saftey reasons, they would want you to come in with a full tank over a mostly empty tank, Because common knowledge tells you that a almost empty tank is ALOT more flammable then a full tank, due to the amount of fumes built up in a almost empty tank.

HIN doesnt segregate, They even let black people in the show to....lol

Why would you not want to enter cause your car is black? If you take care of the car and the paint, It doesnt matter what color it is. But if your car has primer, dents, etc they will not let the car in the venue.

you know, I told my friends that and they still egged me on to enter. I figured it would be a waste of time, especially since I dont have have any custom lighting but oh well. I've never been to HIN so it will be an experience regardless.

I just figured with it already being dark that black wouldn't show that well. Its a different story if the show is outside during the day.

Dont go to HIN to place, Unless its a true show car, its hard to place, I know I cant place there but I went last year and had fun and I am going this year, Few people go to HIN to place

THATS the best attitude. Thank you for that. I look forward to possibly meeting you!

Brett is right, go for the experience, the cars, the people, and to have a good time. With the show scene declining, we need every person to attend National level shows like this. While there is nothing wrong with a parking lot show, it sure is nice to have some corporate sponsors involved....

My suggestion is to have your car as clean as possible, and enything additional you can do between now (lighting possibly) and then is just gravy. There are a few lights within the venue, or else everyone would be tripping over everything...

Regarding a power supply/inverter/charger...you can get them at Wal Mark, most auto stores, and Sears. A basic one will set you back $40-50 (maybe less). A true power supply will set you back about $350 or so.

Bring the black car. Have fun.

John, what size inverter should I get if I just want to run my parking lights/Undercar kit? A charger wont work unless I keep the battery hooked and just keep the charger connected to the battery. For some reason the civic's wont allow a charger to give the car power if the battery isnt fully hooked. Last year I just put the terminals back on and ran that way

Let me get this straight. They are charging $75 for power! So whats the point of adding lights if they are charging an arm and leg to turn them on. I was going to hookup some LCD screens and a PS2 and leave them running. Now I am not sure if its worth the trouble. Also arent power invertors DC to AC? How will they work backwards?

Brett
05-17-2005, 06:48 PM
HIN doesnt charge those rates Thats the convention center that charges that, You pay the convention center direct, at the show, not HIN for power.

ditto this -- I have an invertor to convert DC to AC. It won't do the reverse -- what do I purchase for the AC 2 DC and where?

mucha gracias

I ran into this problem two years ago when I was entered for HIN. Most 15+ Amp convertors will cost you well over 300 dollars. However, ones can be had at Radio Shack, but they are small 5 amp outputs, which would be enough to run some exterior lighting , not systems. They are around 100 dollars last time I purchased one. If you do it smart you can return it the next day.

cool - outside lighting is what I need to run so that would be perfect and $100 isn't bad!!! Thanks for the info!
