I say for the drag racing they should only let 250WHP+ cars race. Too much waste of time if we have 15-16 sec cars in the line. Spectators want action!

I TALKED TO THE TRACK YESTERDAY WE PLAN ON OPENING DOORS AT 2PM SO WE PEOPLE CAN GET THROUGH TECH STAGED AND 3PM WE ARE LETTING EVERYTHING LOOSE!!! SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SIT IN LONG LINES I SUGGEST YOU GET IN EARLY SO YOU CAN GET IN THE DYNO LINE OR GET IN THE STAGING LANES.

(WE MAY OPEN EARLIER IF WE HAVE EVERYTHING SET TO GO)

Somebody hit me up if they can drop me (and my son) off at L'ville Suwanee Rd. on their way back down I-85 around 9-10pm. (404) 452-7691 Michael

R/T I think went to a girl named Brittany (I think her name on here is Britto) I don't know what her time was, but she mentioned she won like 250$ for it. We were on the phone, though, and I was in front of the tractor-trailer bed...er...stage...when the girl in bikini's were first going up, so I didn't pay much attention. :boobies: She drives a black 94(?) lude. She did one run, and shut the car down and left it in the grassy parking area. After the run she said she heard rod-knock and assumes a spun bearing. She stayed up there last, so she may post tonight about it. Poor girl JUST got her car back from six months in the shop (swapped)

As for the dyno, I heard a few people saying it was reading lower than norm.

Congrats to all winners, hope to see you at the next show. My car's not show worthy, but it'll probably be in the show anyways.

LMAO... yes I somehow won best reaction time. It was .502..... My car ran fine on the mobile dyno- which read about 40hp lower than the 219whp/167ft lb tq it ran Friday at Balanced Performance... then I took it down the track ONCE... and spun a rod bearing. There was a very slight knock... and very veryyyyyyy fine metal shavings... let's just say there was a slight silver tint to the oil in direct light. So yes... the day after I got the lude running I spun a bearing! Yesterday was pretty horrible... but finding out I won best R/T was pretty sweet! Another guy actually had the exact same time so we had to split the original $500 payout. We both got $250. Check www.atlantadragway.com for the story and photos in the next few days.... LOL.

My luck is just amazing. eh.. but the rod bearing isn't actually too bad... The lude should be up and running again next week. Considering the motor had less than 5 miles on it prior to dynoing as well as it being 112 degrees in the shop.... Ed and I think it will easily see 230whp on a cooler day after break in period...

Britt, you never texted back. What's up!

Yeah, she told me six months, too. I was gonna be pissed, and make her do it sooner. :taun:

I think they said you tied with a dude because they couldn't admit a girl beat the guys in R/T. Conrats though! When we chillin' again? That everclear caught me off gaurd last time...

lol... I DID text you back! I dunno whats up with my phone... but only some of my texts are actually going through. weird.... but ya we should chill sometime! you lightweight!

They said that other guy tied my .502 R/T and that we had to split the money... I was soooooo close to winning 500 bucks! But hey I'm not complainin...

I'm not soo worried about ME not getting the text as much as I am YOU getting it. Cuz I lost contact with you when I got distracted... :boobies: I just wish they'd been more impressive. But, oh well. My girlfriend wouldn't approve anyways. :D

I'm only a lightweight cuz I've been busted for drinking twice...and I"m sick of the cops. So I've just lost the desire to drink all the time, and because of that...it doesn't take much. I'm happy with it though. Now it only takes four beers to make me feel good instead of 12, or 3-4 shots instead of 8-12. I'm cheap what can I say. But it was great seeing you out there again.

Maybe that 250$ can go into some bearings...what bearings were you using anyways? Might wanna allow for more break-in time next time.

I was just out there to get my stock time so I can see how much it drops after I install the PES G2 supercharger kit. MY best was like a 17.23 @80.7, but hey thats not bad with a 4500 pound car with only 220 hp. I still beat an accord or two haha.

You must not have raced me in my accord then?

I won the closest to 14.00 with some of the slowest runs I've put down in like 3 years. Oh well, worth the $100.00 to be slow I guess.

Had a good time, wish I could have met some of you as I'm new to the area. L8r

exhaust leaks owned me.

It was fun, just wished they ran the track part better (Commerce folks). I only got to run once. Why do they shut down the lanes that are full of people while the drifting was going on? That is my only complaint really. It would of been better for me had I gotten a few more runs in. Next time I guess.

EvasiveEF9
07-25-2006, 09:57 AM
Jaime, my guess on the track shutting down is that I think that track runs by...what organization is it, NHRA regulations (I think) and they're rules say that drag racing is 100% traction...when it's wet, you can't get your full potential and so therefore it's unsafe. Basically, when water touches the track, they shut it down (except the burnout area). Just like they have that rule that there MUST be an ambulance present at all times during runs. Drifting, however, doesn't follow those rules. They've got their own set. That, and the whole point is to make your car slide while drifting...

Also, I can't blame them. "TunerFest" is bound to pull in some younger and/or unexperienced drivers that a normal night of drag wouldn't. I'd prefer them to shut down the track then see cars getting away from the unexperienced crowd.

Jaimecbr900
07-25-2006, 11:35 AM
^^^ You're right, except I was fussing about them shutting down the track when it WASN'T raining.

We had 3-4 lanes full, almost to the back of cars, and they just stopped running. Noone broke down or rain, just stopped while the drift demo was on. When that got over, they started running the cars again.

I understand the young bucks and that people need breaks and stuff, but knowing that the rain WAS coming.....IMO they should have left it open as long as possible. Most of us decided not to run during the 150 deg temps, as that's a worthless cause. When the cars finally cooled down enough from the ride up there to run, they shut down the track after no time.

It's all moot really, as I wasn't going to set any world records or anything. I just would've liked to have gotten more than 1 measly run in all day. I know some people were hot lapping, but on a day that hot it's not worth it to do that unless you're just doing it for practice or something.

Hey Jaime , I asked the same question because it confused me as to why they would do that and someone had mentioned it was a short staff EMT issue.

But that makes me wonder...there was a point when there was drifting and racing going on at the same time.

So honestly, it was maybe a decision made by someone to bring more attention to the drift demo.

unless you're just doing it for practice or something.Practice does help a lot though. I got in like 5 runs I think (not that much more) and dropped my time 2 tenths in those 5 alone.

But yeah, I am right there with you on the being able to get more runs. I know I could have gotten better times with a bit more practice...if anything I need to practice my launch better to better my 2.3 60' times.

Oh, yeah, I know what your'e saying, Jaime. My car wasn't there so I didn't do any drag (or dyno, or show, or...anything), and because of that, I didn't spend too much time at the drag area. But I do know when you're talking about, now.

I suppose it's because they only had one EMT there (as stated, EMT staff shortage) then. But when did they have drag and drift at the same time? I think it was when the viper was running...wasn't it?

Maybe there's a rule that states in one specified area if more than one car is running at a time, EMT is required. Because if only one car is going it's not considered "racing". My dad was telling me back in his days of drag racing his bike, him and a buddy found this backroad to run on all day long, and cops would even come just to watch. Their rule was so long as only one engine is running at a time, it's not considered a race, and therefore we won't ticket you

perhaps the track has some rule along those lines...maybe?

Just a guess.

negative sir. we were initially told that we could only slide when the EMT's were over by us... i think they eventually figured that it was a problem and just let us go out when sam was doing the ridealongs.
