Its a sport compact show. Import and domestic togeather. Its alittle hard to have that many classes with a 1 day event. All you over serious people remember its for fun.

jus saying, for this to be a car show thrown by a automotive tuner magazine you would think that the powers that be would have better suited classes all the way around. hey i got an idea, to make it fun, throw a free show and dont charge the $20 :goodjob: that way we dont have to worry about the competiveness of competiting, entering and paying $20  .

Certainly no offense intended because Tophat and S3 both have great folks but regardless of the size or length of the show, there are standards participants expect. From what I've read in this thread it sounds like a guaranteed disaster. If the promoters don't know or understand customary classes, it would be hard for me to believe judging would be any different. I go to shows to have a great time and could care less about whether I trophy or not. My feelings are not typical of most show goers. If you all don't get organized and have a clear plan of action with some meaningful classes this show will go down as the "Once Annual S3/Tophat Car Show". It's not to late to do it right. If anybody else feels like me, please post up and let these good folks know. Just my 2 cents.

dude i know you guys at Top Hat and S3 know how to get in touch w/ us at IA... as has been mentioned its not too late to fix situations... but no one is going to pay 20$ to compete for 3 awards considering 90% are going to be import sport compact cars. if you guys are just expecting 30 cars i guess you guys are on track but i would think a magazine would be looking to do a big event. :goodjob:

Thats because compared to what was placed in Wild (putting the impala aside because that didnt look wild to me, but then again i never took a close look at it...) your car was mild. My car has close to $15k in mods and i was still in mild...

haha yeah i decided that was mean. had to fix it.

But yeah...some things fell throught the cracks and ended up that Cody, Clint, and I had to judge as the real judges never made it out. Have no fear though, as i am almost sure there will be another, way more organized, WAY MORE, and in a moe bettah location. Anyways, yeah.
Classes were a little meh...but for the most part went how looks over $$ invested. For the most part i would say 2 guys who had never judged before did..."decent".

CodyW
08-08-2006, 05:20 PM
yes indeed, a lot of it was sorta last minute (unfortunately we aren't some huge staffed magazine - there are only 2 of us to do the entire thing), and we had to spend mose of our time lately putting the latest issue together which didn't leave a ton to get the show as organized as we wanted. to make it even more fun, the other 1/2 of the magazine (our editor) had to go out of town last minute for an event up in west virginia, and i had to spend a good bit of the past week moving. and as brady said, we had a few judges lined up that also couldn't make it out, but we had a few of us around with enough experience to take care of it so that's what happened.

we do really appreciate the people that did come out though and braved the heat and slightly far drive to conyers (for some of us). i'll keep everyone posted if we get anything else organized for a later date, and hopefully it'll run a little smoother. thanks again though!
