when i try to sign in it says the connection could not be completed because it timed out, wtf ? what did i do ?

sometimes it'll just have issues logging on.

Try another IM client to see if it works: if it does, then keep it, and get rid of the old one. Or try opening a specific port and filtering the connection through that.
