sales is one of the best fields to get into... experience is everything. my mom is in highend sales i know as of May she had already made 90k for the year.

there are lots of good jobs though that you would be surprised that make the money they do.

my mother in law makes six figures, she has a masters, she works for country school systems as their head nutritionist (manages all the county schools cafeterias and meal plans)

titles really mean nothing... there are tons of PHD, Dr, Lawyer, and engineer that don't make 100+k... shit my title is software engineer, and my dad the garbage man makes more than i do. he makes 70+k as a garbage man http://forums.importatlanta.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Six figure jobs are everywhere. Take a look at any industry or field and some one in them is making atleast 100K. The deal is that most people can't put up with the bullshit long enough to ever get above the "average" pay for any position. People bounce from place to place because the owner or manager sucks or bounce from class to class because the professor is a dick.

I say find something you love to do, work your ass off, work at it like nothing you've ever imagined..and cash-in when your time comes. If ANY employer sees you as an irreplaceable asset they will do just about anything to keep you happy. If they can't afford it and you've done well, there are usually many others in the same field who can..and let the offers begin.

dude its no joke he makes between 70-80k a year + a nice benefits package. he drive commercial so he gets up at like 1am goes in and pull commercial boxes all day. he gets paid by production so more me pulls more he makes. he sits in a truck w/ a/c, listens to 750am all day ;) ... only thing is you have to have a spotless driving record. my dad has not had a single speeding ticket/accident on his record since he was a teenager :goodjob:

You can do it in construction but its hard to get started, its one of those cases where you have to have money or lots of credit to make money.

You can do it in realestate but its a pretty long road to get there, most realestate agents dont make anywhere near that, unless they are a broker etc...

another two underated jobs for young people... bartender or stripper... seriously if you are good and you can make a shit load, claim nothing basically b/c all tips are in ca$h call it a day. we have some bartender friends they easily make the equivelant of 50-100k... one of our friends only works 3 nights a week money is so good :goodjob: (granted don't ever get audited)

I am in the six figure range with no degree. There are many niches in the IT field. You just have to dedicate yourself to learning everything you can. Fortunately, you can teach yourself most of it without having to go to school and in my field, experience or work done is often time more highly regarded than paper degrees.

When I get through with school my job could be a six figure job depending on how many days a week I want to be on the road...We do Fire Investigation for Auto. Manufacturers such as Ford, GM, Land Rover, Jaguar, Toyota bascially everyone...We have 5 guys that stay on the road as much as 5 or 6 days a week usually all over the country and they easily clear the 100k mark by a good bit...But I know plenty of investigators, engineers that do this and stuff like Accident Reconstruction...Especially if you own your on firm...There is also a good bit of money in Evidence Storage and Retrieval we have a company for that as well www.litigationstoragespecialists.com but since most of our stuff is travel and away from home alot its just a thing as whether I really wanna stay on the road that much...I think I'm goin to do it for a few years than try to get into insurance work where its mostly driving...Our guys make Platinum with Delta by May or June of every year...

CONSTRUCTION I KNOW BUT DAMN THATS ALOT OF SHIT TO LEARN. I WORK IN A WAREHOUSE THAT SUPPLY UNDERGROUND PLUMBING SUPPLIES SO I TALK TO ALOT OF CONSTRUTION PPL SO IM LIKE WTF ARE U TALKING ABOUT. LOL!! I DNT KNOW HOW TO PUT NE OF THIS SHIT TOGETHER SO I DNT THINK CONSRUCTION WOULD BE MY FIELD.

I KNOW REAL ESTATE AGENTS MAKE ALOT OF MONEY BUT ALOT OF THEM ARE RIPOFFS AND I THINK THERES A LONG ROAD OF GETTING SCREWED DURING THE LEARNING PROCESS.

My wife just turned 23 years old. She didn't finish college and will make 6 figures before she turns 24.

She's a banking center manager at the moment and training for Regional Manager. She will be over approx. 6-7 banks in the metro Atl area.

Quite a large portion of my company is 6 figures jobs. You just have to be willing to work and earn it. Of course some fields will never get you to that level but if you work your way up and are good at what you do, it can be attained in most fields.

But just picking a job because it pays well and going after it is not going to do you any good, you have to actually be able to do the work.

Get into the computer field, there's are alot of +100k in that field. If you are looking into engineering there Petrolum Engineering. P.E. makes +80k with just a B.S., but with a M.S. you would be in the 100k-115k range. I'm was doing that but change my major to Mech. Engineering where I'm going to start off with like 75k-85k.

Selling drugs illegally will only get you so far. Because if you do get to the point where you're making money, you have a lot more to lose than the punk that sells it on the street.

Not to mention you speak of people having high stress and they have sucky lives. Think of all the people's lives you'd affect and possibly ruin by selling them one hit of cocaine. That stuff is addicting. Not to mention some drug dealers put Meth in it to get you addicted even quicker. Here at work, I've seen people get addicted to Meth from only taking it once.

Imagine doing it big, and then getting busted and all your possessions are gone and all that 'work' was for nothing. You'll feel better about the money you make at the end of the day if you do legitamately.

I'm sure you were probably kidding anyways about selling drugs, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

A couple of things stick out in my mind with this thread. I dont think 6 figures necessarily equals happiness in most cases, I know people who make that much and barely live paycheck to paycheck.. spending habits are more of a concern than actual salary. Also look for something that you enjoy doing and do well, trust me you will be successful if you are persistent and enjoy it that much.

I make a good amount to be 26 but honestly I do not love my job and would gladly take a paycut for something I enjoy doing which is why I am pursuing entrepreneurship. Have you considered trying your own business? It may not be instant wealth but the gratification you get from writing your own paycheck is second to none. Shoot me an instant message or pm sometime and we can chat, I have business ideas pop in my head at the least twice a day.

Yes, but do you have an engineering degree?

Titles mean nothing, but degrees do.

Engineering is the highest paying job out of college on average.

But it all depends on how good of a worker you are. If you get a degree, and are a good worker, you'll easily break the 100k barrier.

If you don't get a degree, but you are a good worker, you can still make good money and in some instances break into the 100k bracket.

And whoever said sometimes experience is better, is right, but it takes a lot more time getting experience that would equal a degree.

Is not easy, you just have to bust ass. Pretty Soon I will be in the 6 figures with my real job... But is/will be alot of work. but I like what I do.
If I throw what IA.com brings in, Im over 6 figures.
But IA.com money goes right back into the Site.. So I get nothing out of it, Maybe a few beers here and there.
like Justunez said.. STAY in one place.. A good company w/ good future and potential in growing.. Not changing jobs every 3 month. Im 27, Only 2 jobs in my life so far.
College Drop out... I think 2 jobs is good.
If you do not pursue college then find something you like to do. The money is out there especially in sales and retail. But is not easy.

Another thing I learned through the years.. Some people dont take work seriously.
your SECURE JOB should be your #1 priority or right there with your family.
Alot of people dont care and are simply happy the way they live.

The Higher you go the more is expected out of you.. I am responsible for close to $2 million in sales every month and keeping 20 employees happy.
My next position the responsibilty multiplies by 10... Wont be easy, But I will be ready.
