Talk about some bullshit.... im got off work tonight, and on the way home on south cobb drive, i get pulled over by three cop cars..... im like WTF??? when he gets to my car, he ask me how much % is my tint (of coarse im gonna play dumb and make believe i don't know)......... anywayz, so his little meter says 20%... after he writes the ticket, he comes back to me and say, "nice car man, what kinda engine work you got?"..... i looked at him like he was retarded, then he says, "Oh yea, your car is also to loud, but i won't give you a ticket for that today." What the hell is wrong with Smyrna Police?.......... and how much are the tickets usually?? and there is no way i can win if i go to court, is there?

tint tickets aren't bullshit..
fyi, the tickets actually for the protection of the police. makes their job easier approaching a car, especially at night, to make sure the driver doesn't pull out a gun or try anything to jeopardize the officers lives..
I never understood the law until I started interning..

Oh snap!
I *totally* forgot to pay my tint ticket! I better jump on that tomorrow.
You know, I won't take my tint off. It's 5% all around, and I love my privacy. However, I ride around with the windows down alot, and my windows are always down, my lights turned on and my keys on my dash WHENEVER I get pulled over. I have to respect the need for safety, both the cop's and mine.
You gotta pay to play sometimes.

I dunno how bad it's gonna be, but I think it was due a few weeks ago.
I am sooo bad about crap like that. Non-moving violations don't really move me to action. In my defense, I tried to call for about 4 days straight to find out how much the ticket was going to be, and no one ever answered.

personally yes it is for their saftey, but at the same time, it is bullshit. he pulls you over JUST to check your tint? umm yeah.... DOUCHE!!!!! and the remark about the exhaust, thats just plain BS. I had the same crap happen to me in my 300zx, copped pulled me over saying , and I quote verbatim "OK Boy, you better find yourself a ride home cause you AINT got no insurance" well after much much talk, I finally convinced him to go back to his car and check my insurance after handing him my VALID CURRENT insurance card... seems cop computers are GHEY!!!! he called the insurance company and verified it. but he still wrote me a ticket for no registration cause my tag had expired, (car wouldnt pass emissions due to exh leak)

well my 300zx was loud, and the cop obviously singled me out because of it, got behind me for a good bit, and was running my tag, then pulls me over after he finds something to throw at me.

I had to pay $127 in Conyers last week for 15% tint on my windows. They said you can get a shop to take it off and get the shop to give you a letter stating that it was taken off and they would drop it to a warning.

sometimes the ticket is cheap. sometimes you can have it taken off and get a warning. and then sometimes (like my dads case) you pay the ticket, and have to have the tint remove, and show proof.

yep its the end of the month.
luckily i dont drive very far to work and theres never any police on my way to work...the rest of the time my car is in the garage...i try not to drive much at the end of the month.
i have had 3 tint tickets since i got it back in january 03..they were from..kennesaw city police, kennesaw state university police, and woodstock police...only the small town police departments care. i can sit next to a cobb county police officer all day long and they could give a flying fuck about my window tint.
ive got 15% on the sides, 5% on the back window and 5% strip across the windshield...
my roomate jay 1439/2000 got pulled over a few months ago and the officer tries to tell him that any tint on your windshield is illegal even a strip which is bullshit...then tests his tint, jays is legal 30%..the law is 30 + - 2%..well it read out as 29% and the officer started giving him BS about that too.

get out of it NO aint gonna happen if it metered at 20% and the law is 28%net metter will not be off by that much.
Tint ticket is more than a non-moving traffic violation it is a Misdemeanor and u "can get up to $1000 in fines and 1 year in jail" by definition.
yes they will drop it to a warrning if you have it removed, from my experence.
the only thing that annoys me about the tint tickets is over half of the cop cars I have seen out there have 20% tint or darker on their own cruisers as well...my girlfriend got a tint ticket in Norcross a few years ago...$75...the only time I think you should get one is if you have it on your front windshield...I saw a car at the show last Saturday down at Turner...I believe it was Marlon's...I don't know how he avoids tickets with the dark tint accross the entire front windshield...kind of hard to tell what the driver is going to do if you can't see him...

Read the Georgia code on tint laws. It will answer all of your questions/rants that you have in the post above. It sounds to me that you are uninformed. Educate yourself...

I don't see how the meter read 20%...glass naturally has a slight tint to it of 2 to 3+%. If it was 20% film then it should have read 17%, never seen 23-25% film :dunno:

I got the ticket in a gwinnett co. rolling roadbloack (standing in friday rushhour traffic and picking out people) i removed my tint and got a 50% discount on my fine, 1 week later the georgia supreme court ruled the tint law unconstitutional...lol.

What? No. 75% is nothing. That allows 75% of the light through.
25% is MUCH darker as it only allows 25% of the light through. 5% would be almost black as it only allows 5% of the light through.

cops can't make you do anything. All of the times i've been pulled over i rolled my windows down, both of them, and dealt witht he cop. 2/3 of them asked me to roll my windows up (cuz they couldn't give me tickets for what they had planned) and I said no, and they gave me bullshit threat/stories and what not and i still said no and they just left me alone. 1 of'em followed me for a while even pulling up next to me as he saw me leaning over in my car (was about to roll up my passenger window), and i looked up and GRINNED at his ass and started laughing and then left it down. good shit.

Tinting your entire windshield is a Federal Violation.
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
Federal Highway Administration
49 CFR Part 393
The final rule allows tinting of windshields as long as the
percentage of light transmitted through the tinted windshield is at
least 70 percent of the light at normal incidence in those portions of
the windshield or windows which are marked as having a luminous
transmittance of at least 70 percent.
some vehicles come with a little tint already in the winshield, but not below that AS1 line. anything below that is considered Cirtcial viewing area.
all tempered glass(side and rear) and laminated glass(windshield) have a 70% min glazing from the factory. so if any untind glass is metered it will read anywhere above 70%. some glass will state what it's % in on the glass.
