I believe the R34's only came boosted but the R32's came with 4 NA motors. The CA18i, RB20E, RB20DE, and RB25DE. The R33's came with an RB20DE and an RB25DE.

That along with a single cam RB20, I can't say anyone actually bought them but they were available. The RB20det powered cars seemed really slow so I can only imagine what a non turbo CA would feel like. Might was well drive a geo with a trailer on the back.

No but with a little work on the head bolt holes and a few other changes you can have a TT RB30 that will pack some serious power. Just barely fits under the hood of a skyline but would be bad ass. We had thought about doing that to our R33 rather than the Tomei 2.8 stroker but no one in the states has and I didn't want to be the first with that car.

Didn't wanna pioneer it in the states? Dan Couga in south GA is in the process of building him one, we're building one, using the 30 block, and 26 head, got a few more blocks on there way. We're also stroking a 20 to the 2.4, it's always fun to to do different things.

Yes but for the car that the motor would be going in I'm not concerned with all out power. Its a DD type of car and will make 600+ with the 2.8 I'm building. When we were contemplating building that motor no one had before. This was nearly 2 years ago, we've got an R33 race car that may end up with that platform but not the DD street cars.

I considered an RB30 block for my RB26 240, until I found out they're deck height is 38 mm taller.

Just cut a hole in the hood and you'll be fine. lol I had a customer ask me once it that would fit with a stock hood, I just laughed and said no. It barely fits in a skyline.

r34s were sold in 4door trim as fleet vehicals (kinda like crown vics), they came with an rb20de and an rb25de. one would then assume the 2 door had similar options, for the posuers. there was never a rb30de, there was a 30e and a 30et. if you want somethin sexy, do an tb45de or tb48de and add a pair of t88s

my 30 block is on the way, or it will be in a few weeks. most of the 30de/t conversions are done using 25 bits cause they are cheap and to make real power on a 25 you have to rebuild it anyway. why not just spend the extra $$$ and give those toyota ass hats the ole hee haw. that being said you dont need to modify your mounts or hood if you use 26 bits.

If its going in a 240 you would. Thats what I was refering to.

Need any 25 parts? parting out an rb25.

Sounds nice.

I remember the days of my s13 and me wanting to do rb30, but then realize I was broke and in high school...

The N/A Skylines Were called GTS rather than GTS-T.

Oh and I've heard from alot of places that the rb30 sucks ass.

Of course

There are 2 door, 4 door and even wagon versions. Not all came with turbo/s.

GTS is a prime example of a N/A Skyline which was produced as R32 and 33. The N/A 34 was designated the GT25 which has a turbo version GT25t

see heres the thing, your wrong. i have an rb25 in an s14 without modifying the hood at all. now the 25 is about 6" taller than a 26 due to the intake running across the top of the valve cover. if i can drop the larger motor the 3.2cm so it and factory intake will clear the hood, then you shouldnt have to drop the motor or cut the hood. now if you cheaped out and used the skyline cross member then your on your own. if your serious about doing this and you have a spare 25 head you should use it on your conversion. it will flow enough air to support 1100hp without having work done, the beauty of normal aspiration.

the more i think about it the more i want to keep the single cam head, dont know why just think it might be cool.

What motor mounts are you using? I have Mckinney motorsports, and everyone I have talked to has told me there will be clearance issues with the hood at the frontmost part of the engine, where the curvature of the hood becomes a slight problem.

As far as the head, I don't want to use the RB25DET head since the RB26 head flows better (and the 272 HKS cams I have for it also). I want to get the best HP gains, at minimal boost since this will be a street car.

Also, Part of the reason I am going single turbo is the downpipe issues on the rb26's.

Thanks for your advice, and I would love to do an RB30 bottomend, but at 38MM higher deck height the front of the hood will deffinately have some issues with the mounts I am using.
