on an all motor build a catch can has little use. But that cough:: penis::cough I mean intake is KICKING!!!!!!!!!

oil catchcans are for ricers... true street rac0rz add oil to the vent for added lubrication. Sometimes i just open my VC and pour differential oil over everything to keep it running smoothly

Catch cans offer GREAT benefits in any motor. They relieve excess crank pressure an prevent blow by. If you honestly think turnig a motor to 8500-9000 rpms an the little 1/4in PCV stock valve can get all the crankcase pressure out, your smoking crack.

I gained 5whp from Turbo Daves catch can, mine was a little more elaborate as i had a check valve installed in my exhaust. but it slowed down my blow by an gained power. Seth aka SIPIMPIN picked up 3whp and i think he said the motor felt much smoother an acclereated much faster/linear.

Beau, what you want to do is really drill the front of the valve cover by the baffles. Run a baffled oil catch can, run both lines to the catch can, run the stock PCV line to the valve cover location but put a breather filter in between them

that last car is a guy named blake. he has some bad ass ITB he has made him self. and is gonna run the new RM h24x cams. with like a .500" lift cams. gonna be pretty sick.

Another thing you can do,is remove the PCV valve and run it in the PCV box.It does the same things as runnig too your exaust,just less oil under your car!

the PCV on the back of the block is to remove pressure from the CRANKCASE.

the slash cuts in the exhaust create a VENTURI effect an actualy PULL blow by out of the Breather box. If you run it the way i did, it recirculates the blow by back to the motor up top in the engine bay.

either way, oil residue should never be under your car. Removing the PCV valve an running the breather tube to the PCV box really is not a good idea. the PCV valve is a CHECK valve that only opens under pressure. if you iliminate it, its always open under positive an negative pressure.

So just curious to know,why does everyone shut that port then and dont run to PCV valve then? They run the 2 other ports on back of the block.Would that not cause the same effect then?

you can eliminate the stock PCV all together, but its best to have a check valve to replace it. Or something that can open an release the pressure when needed. Its shouldnt be "open all hte time". this is why its called a POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION. ITs only designed to work when there is a positive pressure, not vacuum

there are millions of ways to run a PCV system, im just going from personal experience. Dave an i tried about 10 different theories on the dyno, an some ways produced more smoke then others, some ways lost power, some ways gained power.

the best way to do it IMHO is to run it the way i said earlier in the thread. Run a baffled catch can with 2 vents off the vavle cover. Run a hose from the PCV to the valve cover with a breather filter in between. that way its not fighting pressure it vents in between. then you run a hose fro mthe top of the catch can down to the slash cut in the exhaust.

BTW:90% of the catch can setups i see, are wrong, or improperly setup.

i think you just answered your own question lol.

The PCV only opens when there is POSITIVE PRESSURE on the spring inside the valve. When it gets pressure it opens an releases crankcase pressuer an gasses. If you eliminate that valve an its ALWAYS shut you can create lots of stress on the Crankshaft an rotating assemlby as too much positive pressure in the crank case can cause devastating effects. Leaving it open all the time can cause negative effects as well as their needs to be some pressure inside the crankcase.

the original design behnid the Catch Can was to catch those oily gases an keep them from going into the intake manifold an "gummng" it up. It was to keep the intake manifold clean. Nowadays, ESPECIALLY in NA cars, there have been great strides toward power making catch cans. the slash cuts is one of those ideas.
