MOVING TO AUSTRALIA BITCHES!!!

Ok... a few of you knew this. But NEway I was waiting to hear from DISCO if working for the Aussie government as a contractor (UNIX Systems Engineer) will kill my Dept of Defense "Yankee White" security clearance (there is only 1 DoD clearance higher than mine). After what has seemed like an ETERNITY of waiting... I got news today that AM GOOD TO GO and still will retain my clearance here in the US!!

So.. uhhh... yeah, I am either moving to Perth, Sydney, or Brisbane within' the next 90 days (give or take a few weeks). The only hangup will be waiting on a work VISA --> which will take longer since my SSN/PASSPORT is marked by the Nat'l Security Administration. So I am sure my VISA will get red-flagged by the Aussie gov. But after the red tape I SHOULD (fingers crossed) be good to go.

Be prepared for the craziest FS thread on the planet once I get the greenlight b/c I will only keep my teal green 91 Si (original, 62K miles), the 95 Si, and the 92 GSR I just bought. All the other rides wil go, to include the Spec V.

I'm WAAAAY too excited right now... but tryna remain calm. When I get setup I'm gonna start funneling JDM/UK spec motors/parts (and anything else I can get my hands on) back here for you guys too. Okay, I'ma gonna shut up now! :goodjob:

Well. It has started! :) Yesterday was my last day @ work. I will have a TAD bit more time for meets or whatever now... but not too much. There's a LOT I gotta get done in a short amount of time. I've lived in a few different countries... but each time I was in th Air Force. This will be the 1st time I've lived outside the U.S as a civillian... got more butterflies. lol. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.

When I was in the Air Force I was aircrew on the E-3 Sentry (AWACS) aircraft. That required a Top Secret SCI clearance. I did that for 4 years. In Nov 1999 while flying Operation Southern Watch missions over Syria/Turkey the co-pilot window blew out at 42,000ft AGL. My lung collapsed (the aircraft is pressurized to 8,000ft, while the pressure OUTSIDE the aircraft was 42,000ft. Imagine standin on top of an 8,000ft mountain unaided by oxygen, then IMMEDIATELY being moved to a 42,000ft mountain in less than 1/2 a second). I was DNIF (Duties Not Including Flying) for 6 months (standard ops). I was resumed to flight duty. Immediately after my 1st flight my lung collapsed again. The required ANOTHER DNIF for 6 months. I was going to do this and still fly in the Air Force, HOWEVER the FAA would strip my license should I have another pneumothorax (collapsed lung). I decided to NOT fly in the Air Force in order to retain my civillian license. I corsstrained into Communications where I worked on Top Secret DoD communications. After my last 4 years, I got offers from the CIA/FBI/NSA/Dept of Homeland Security as a contractor (UNIX Systems Engineer). So that's how I got my job. Actually anyone who has a skillset that the Gov can use and can pass AND MAINTAIN a security clearance (SECRET is the minimum, nuclear is the highest) can get a Fed job. I know guys who were cooks in the Army who are now cooks at Groom Lake (Area 51). There is a Fed gov job equivalent to pretty much EVERY civillian job that you can have. Just apply!!!

there arent too many jobs where you get full free medical and dental, free house, free food and 30 days of paid vacation per year. the military also pays for all plane tickets for you and your family and shipping of all your stuff, cars included, when you move to a duty station.

Your guaranteed to live on the beach and the chances of coming to Iraq or going to any other war are extremely slim. Its also alot more relaxed and you get to ride around on boats and blast drug smugglers with crazy water guns that shoot harder than fire hoses.
