Time for name that random car! Rep poiints as I can for knowing the cars! And try not to right click.. let's keep this fun!

And just to keep it interesting...
- 4 wheels only
- no concept cars/cars newer than '06
- customized/hot rods ok!
- When you answer, try to provide the year, too!

My first entry:

close. Check the hood ornament and also look past the mods to see the original car.

yes, it's a lincoln. Good job guys... I'll give you a hint.. it's an old lincoln that was made in the 30s/early 40s and is now a concept again looking at release in '07

Ford Phaeton. How the hell did u know that?

cause I know cars... I study automotive design.. it's one big circle... no car design is ever really "new"... the basic design of a car hasn't changed much in the last 120 years... 4 wheels, find a way to fit in some people and a motor. So, to come up with new designs like this:

http://www.rsportscars.com/foto/07/gr1concept05_11_1024.jpg

99% of car designers pull from old designs like this ;)

http://www.totalcontrolproducts.com/events/support/2000mininats06b.jpg

And then you can rewind even more from the above 66 GT40 to something like the phaeton, and you can see how a lot of the fender swells and graceful, clean lines carried over...

http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-1930-1939/1934-Ford-Blue-fa-ho-sy-1152x864.jpg

And from the phaeton, you can go back to the way early days of cars, as the 30s were a turning point in car design, from funtion to fashion. What would eventually become those huge, graceful fenders started as a way to keep rocks and dust from hitting you.. Just about every car on the market today can be "traced" as far as design goes back to the 10's and 20's.. they just keep breaking down, breaking down, breaking down, until you're at a basic "skeleton" type design.

look closely at that 1885 mercedes and you can see the S curves that are still present in just about every car on the road today... starts at the nose, sweeps over the front wheel(s), plunges down for the running boards, then gracefully flows out into what would become the rear quarters.
