The quality in models also.. wtf are people thinking ?

A few years ago car shows had some hot models.. now it seems every chick wants to model and shit... bones and extra fat is not an issue anymore. :doh:

The reason they don't show up is because sub-par car shows DON'T attract attention. The import scene is not profitable around here. Companies know this, so why hire models?

I work with a major parts distributor and the import market has been dwindling pretty bad. Sure we have our H.I.N. and Nopi Nationals, but the average attendee in GA is between 16-24. Not exactly the age where someone can afford to pour money into their vehicle. Therefore, fewer and fewer quality cars. Less excitement at the show :P

(I already knew that tho lol) I can understand why, most of the people I have gotton opinions from about that show can vouch for the fact they are sick and tired of seeing the same shit over and over again. Im glad to see shows like Dub, and some of the smaller ones coming out... they have more variety and they arent fixed and shit like the others. However, I know at the dub show, I know a famous b-ball players bike (that money was just thrown at) beat out a good friends bike...that he did for the sake of remembering a historical event.... I dont agree with that at all. :rant:

I think that back in the day (only a few years) it took some coin to build a bad ass car. Sure, we all started at the bottom building some pretty "ricey" shit but as the scene grew, a few dozen cars rose to the top and made their way into vendor booths and hard to beat car clubs. Their shit was original or one-of-a-kind and people tried their best to build similar cars on a budget.

Along with these high profile, quality built cars came hot models and smokin girls willing to pose half naked infront of a bad ass car just for the shot of getting some magazine coverage or "getting noticed".

So what happened? I think most of the OG's figured out that instead of building a 80K Acura, they can buy a 50K Lex or Benz and put 30K into owning a house. With everyone and their mom making cheap import parts, I think that it's pretty tough to build a real unique show car these days. Most import models have probably moved on to internet porn and coke and their replacments are the short chubby white girls just looking for a ride out of the trailer park.

The scene is dead because of an ever-growing problem with maturity and kiddies with too much money on their hands. More and more KIDS these days are getting money to "pimp" out their rides (be it from parents, part-time jobs, etc). The crew is getting younger and younger. Most of the kids don't even have a clue about their cars, either. They just want to be in the show and get the attention. They aren't serious, they act like kids because they are kids. I'm talking about 15, 16, 17 yr olds, etc.

I'm a 30 year old man. Honestly, I have NO interest and going to a show and hanging out with immature fucks who talk trash, act their age, and basically show the "car intelligence" of a hamster.

I have a feeling that I speak for a good many people that are my age give or take a few years. When you don't have "older" people in these shows, you lose the sponsors, you lose the models, and the overall quality goes down.

Everyone on IA.com can sit and agree that the recent generations of kids has been going downhill. Now you are seeing that result of that pattern... It is affecting multiple aspects of life. It's a downward spiral...

the scene had definately changed... there is either nice or rice... there isn't just a good median of cars anymore... either they are rice and is some young kid or its really nice and its an OG still holding it down. models/sponsors have all declined in the show scene. to tell you the truth the scene is still making $$$ but you need to venture into the the competitive sports ring such as: drifting, road racing, drag, etc... show scene will always be around, there isn't a car that doesn't look better hooked up; i'm sure we will see it come back into the mainstream when drifting crazy wears out and people find out that donuts in parking lots isn't that entertaining.
