so guys here we have it

back to help me, not argue about your old car that ran 5's.

sohc is out of question, itll make me feel like less of a man. (if its possible)

here is options now
b16
gsr
itr (ehh maybe cost = alot) is it worth the cost??

come on guys asking for 13s isnt much.

Halfwit

it doesnt all have to depend on cost, but cost is an issue, it all comes down to value, best motor i can get for what i am looking for but not the most expensive motor, needs to have potential, but doenst have to be the king.

not looking fo the "cheapest fast car u can get fur yur money"
so no more sohc things please.

If you have to go dual, don't waste your time with the B16. GSR longblock. With a similar build to what I have you can run some really good times in an EF. The only reason I built the b16 to begin with was because my car came with it. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. Don't get me wrong, I loved my car with the motor once we got done and it would have more than likely run well into the 13's in your chassis. But starting from scratch go with the GSR, get a GOOD header, intake, and let MSP build you an exhaust you should be happy for a little bit. Then decide if you want to boost, build NA, or run spray. Get ready to continually spend bunches of money, and I hope you turn out with a car that you really enjoy.

that is what i am leaning towards, but i might look into ITR.. is the extra cost worth it..?

bleh EF's are fuckin ugly IMO. but i drive a vdub, and some folks dont like those

I don't think the extra couple grand on an ITR is worth it. Don't get a B16 either, having no torque sucks, even in an EF, I know because I use to have one. So that leaves you with getting a GSR, then you'll be in the mid to high 14 sec range. With a little bit of nitrous you'll be into the 13s!

oh, and go with the b18c1, b16 are a waste, ant the c5(itr) has the same amount of tourqe as the c1(gsr). get the tranny from a type r tho. lsd

A good choice if you are going motor and want something good is to get the Si tranny like what's in my car. 4.4 FD makes it really nice to keep it n the power band and much cheaper than an ITR. Then you can get a CTR/ITR diff for around 290-350 shipped from the guy i got mine and you'll have the ITR tranny with what IMO is an optimal gear for the Honda. The ITR 4.79 FD is a little steep. I am already around 4000 rpm at 70mph with my car. If you were just road racing/autox it would be better to have the shorter gear but for a drag racer/dd the 4.4 will be really good. You should be able to cross the 1320 maxing out 4th once you do some mods and with the right height tire on it.

well out of what you listed, b16 is out of the question, but with the right connections you can get a full ITR swap for about 5k and break 13s all day. But I still vote for sohc turbo.

soi your friend knows a guy with the swap down south. cool. now lets play a game. you know of 1 person in the "area". now, within the next 10 seconds, name everyone you know with a b18. k? my point exactly. having a swap whose number of owners in the area is less than 100= original to me. lol.

Get a k24 out of an accord or odysee with an jdm itr tranny or type s tranny with an lsd upgrade, and throw some spray on there for kicks. While you have the tranny out its probably best to get shorter gears. Im not sure which gear ratios work best for these transmissions so your gonna have to research that. Good luck.

Since you want only those 3 choices...B16, B18C1, D- FI

B18C1...more lowend than b16, 1.8L, has room for more power either NA or FI, cable of 600+whp STOCK MOTOR, has VTEC, Has DOCH, has oil squirters LOL, you get my point....

yeah what i am thinking now is get the b18c1 for the crx, then get an obd2 h22 for my dd ek hatch and keep it stock, but still streetable.

right now i cant even make it up a hill starting at 60 without downshifting to 3rd halfway up.. = need bigger motor

u should get a sr20 bottom end and slap a b16 head on it, and use the SRT-4 tranny.

i thought about that for a while, but the turbo spindles in the srt-4 tranny would cause compression lag, the sr20 bottom would mess up the spark plugs on the vtecness.

I would do the GSR only because of what Bee said. and what i have been saying ALL ALONG.

ease of installation
best bang for the buck
great candidate for NA or BOost
tons of bolt ons from OEM to Aftermarket

For your EK, yes id do an H22. I would still NOT DO AN H22 IN A CRX, PERIOD

Goinfasterthanu
06-23-2006, 11:46 AM
eg does good with the h22 also....Easy swap.. but yes h22 in a crx is a big PITA!!
