Another War Story From Iraq

It was just an average security patrol with us all riding around in the truck with our thumbs up our asses. Our platoon leader decided to just stop a random group of cars and search them for weapons cause we hadnt had any action in the patrol and it was almost over, it was a group of about five cars and we had searched four of them when we opened the trunk of the last one, a silver opel, and there sat multiple machine guns and grenade launchers, hundreds of bullets and other things they were getting ready to use against us. we imediately began beating the shit out of the three guys that were riding in that car. all of a sudden i felt pieces of the road bouncing up and hitting my legs as a long machine gun burst came from a distance, i looked down to see bullets bouncing all around my feet, i imediately took cover behind one of the other cars we had stopped until the machine gun fire stopped and we had security set up. i made it away safely along with everyone else that was there. I cant get into the details of what else we did after that because ill get my ass handed to me for sharing that info but i figured you all would like that story, oh yeah, the guys shooting at me were never found cause after that longs ass burst of gun fire aimed at me they put there tails between there legs and rolled out.

the bullets didnt hit me they were just so close that the pieces of the road that were breaking off were hitting my legs, the bullets were hitting about a foot away from my feet.

they had weapons, we chose to use "less than lethal" means to detain them. it wasnt like a ten minute beating ot anything like that. just a few good blows to take them to the ground and a few more to keep them from trying to resist.

both actually, once the driver of the car knew he was fucked he became violent so we had to use force to get him to the point to where he could be subdued. the other two guys that were with him were just "agressively" brought over to there buddy and put into hand cuffs.

some familes of the people over here cant handle the stories of what goes on over here. it makes them uneasy. the hippies also see it as just because sombody tries to kill us, it gives us no reason to do the same to them. if deadly force can be avoided, it is avoided though. i dont wantanybody to get the wrong idea and think that the men and women over here are a bunch of killers and bullys. we are constantly giving food water and toys to the children and giving money to the civilians here to give us tips on where we can find the bad guys. any damage that we do to cars or houses of civilians is also paid for by the united states. we treat everyone fairly and with respect as long as they deserve it.

The man that is a million miles away is doing something YOU not only didn't do, but have said WOULDN'T do. Scared, don't agree with it, tree hugger....doesn't matter. HE, along with thousands of others, are doing what YOU and I aren't doing. They deserve at minimum our gratitude and respect for affording all of us the opportunity to sit back and post totally stupid crap on the internet. The "freedom" everyone so badly desires costs not only money, but far more.....it takes brave people's LIVES to secure that for YOU and I. YOU should go to Arlington with a bowed head and hat off for those men and women that decided even YOU were worth fighting for.

War is a necessary evil of our society's quest for "freedom". Like it or not, there are actually people right this second plotting and scheming to KILL YOU, ME, YOUR PARENTS, YOUR FAMILY, and ANYONE that doesn't agree with their agenda. If soldiers, like our friend here, don't stand up and fight them....as proved by 9/11.....they will certainly come and fight US here. You pacifists can blow your nose on the American flag, burn it, and protest against all you want.....but the bottomline is that if it weren't for brave soldiers willing to make the ultimate sacrifice NOONE would have that right.


So, you wanna say something about this war......go for it. Remember though that the soldiers are affording you that right by doing something YOU wouldn't do. So at the very least show them the respect and dignity they deserve by merely buttoning up their BDU's and lacing up their boots while taking up a post that YOU nor I had the BALLS to.

Like I said, media wars are very common. But that doesn't excuse a semi-intelligent person's use of common sense.

Bad stories SELL, period. The warm hearted U.S. soldier holding a baby or feeding a starving family or the soldiers building new schools is NOT what is broadcast because it doesn't SELL as much as sensationalism.

Yes, roadside bombs do kill. Yes, soldiers do die there serving their country and doing a job they would rather not do. But when you're bombarded by nightly reports of only ONE side of the equation, it stands to reason that the majority of people that don't surf the net or have friends there or hear first hand accounts to rebutt the media onslought WILL believe this is a war we'll never win. :rolleyes:

It's funny how people don't notice that biased media likes to report one story, but rarely do you see a "follow-up" or "end" to that story. Why you ask? Because often times that "ending" is different than their agenda and therefore gets conviniently lost in the shuffle. So people only get ONE side of the story, the side THEY want to sell/show.
