ok batdude8 (dan) lastnight went on and on ab this retarted lil DSM with a FMIC and exhaust ab how it was "built", when it pulled by. it definitly didnt sound very aggressive at all. and ive seen some fast as GSX's/GST's b4, this def wasnt one. the kid got out and i asked him straight up what he had done that made his motor "built", so i asked what kinda valves he was using. he says "stock", then i laugh at dan. the kid gets all butt hurt that we are now laughing at his comment, then says "I sould be the one laughing cuz its not stock"...i was like ok whatcha got, he just got in the car and started reving it(nice exhaust and BOV lol..)...never once telling me anything ab his "built" motor...fucking tool. so what do you consider built??

built would be block/head modifications to w/ stand xsv forced induction/nitrous/NA application

built, meaning the damn motor was taken out, car had some down time, and the more than 50% of the internals are aftermarket, and it better need tuning lol!

Minnimum some internals like rods, pistons, etc. Bolt-ons are just that bolt-ons.

Yep... to me... built means engine removed and a good bit of the internals upgraded.

My car is not built, it's modded. One day....

You don't have to have aftermarket internals in the head (ie valves) in order to have a built block... and vice versa is true as well. It just depends on which part in the engine bay is "built"

^thats why im asking what your def of a "built motor" is

it was a joke really cuz the kid obviously had nothing but a few bolt ons and thought he was king shit lol

My gvr4 is BUILT. lol

Rods, pistons, head gasket and studs. That is built.

Then the usual head stuff. But that usually doesnt mean a whole lot if the bottom isnt strong.

Oh and if this about a starion or quest, its not a dsm. At all.

An informative post by me for people who think dsm's are all kind of things.

hmm, well, I'd say your engine is built if its putting out at least 50 - 75% more than the stock output - and this all varies per engine

built ='s

That doesn't make sense. I would hardly call a fuel pump, boost controller, exhuast dsm/evo built.

its why I said it varies per engine :D it all depends what engine - its easily attainable on DSMs and v8s - but then take some Honda engines ( like the Dseries ) and it takes alot to make it reach 250whp +
