Which would you rather do:

LS-VTEC
LS block - b16a pistons stock rods

= cheaper and faster to build yet its basically a stock build

or

B20-VTEC
B20 block - Eagle rods Arias 11:1 comp pistons

= more expensive yet more reliable and faster

I'm one of the people where i'm rolling on 316 and an FC flys by and it just pisses me off because my little d15z1 can't do crap  and i want to go fast quick .. but yet on the other hand i would love to have more torque and also have the feeling that my motor won't break down as easily .. just a thought

B20 vtec is almost equal to a stock Gsr and in some cases faster!
i know this from personal experiences

out of those two id go with the b20, but my personal choice would throw a h22 in and call it a day.

b20 vtec,Its faster than a gsr any day.

i dont get it .. my question was ls or b20 (less money or more money) nothing about GSR .. but thanks for the feedback ..

hmm H22 .. thought about it but too much work for me to do ...

none, both engines are too problematic
why do u think honda doesn't do this kind of engine its, sure they have torque, but personally, i couldn't stand it.

ls/vtec, ran this twice already, very reliable, bout the same power as a gsr, if not more depending on your build, b20/vtec...cost the same to do as ls/vtec, just a bigger displacement, but won't last as long unless you build it right. Mainly both motors have the same problem, the rods are weak so no redlining.

yeah, if you build it right then it will work, but most ppl don't worry about things like that and just convert it to Vtec, and stick a gsr or B16 head on it. They don't worry about the Ls oil pump which can't get enough with the vtec. And like u said, the crap rods don't work with the new head.

thinking about just doing the full build b20 so i won't have any problems .. thanks for the feedback ..

make sure to do your homework before you start, get all the parts that would make the engine run right.

its just easer to get a GSR (B18C1) then trying to build and ls/vtec or B20/vtec all though I've never raced anyone with a B20/vtec, It would probably have more torque of course but I think the GSR or ls/vtec would definitly have better top end just depends on what your looking for

I would rather just get a GSR to man, but its his choice and thats what he like. Good luck and have fun.

YAY!!!! 100th POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

B20, no replacement for displacement.

Ls vtec is the way to go under strict circumstances -

forged rods and pistons
arp rod bolts
gsr block girdle (not necessary but i have found it makes the engine run smoother)

and as for b20 vtec its pointless just becuase the sleeves are to thin if u want b20 vtec simply buy a ls block and sleeve it so u can bore it too 84 or even more than 84 with the right sleeves .

yes understandbly this shit cost alot of bread . cheapest and easiest way u want to know ? put a gsr girdle and arp rod bolts on the short block and nothing over 8k tho but it is very dependable , also type r oil and water pumps

but LS VTEC any day of the week man FUCK b20 vtec
